Advancing to Modern Champion Two and Champion Leaderboard, Advancement Chests

Introduction

With more than three days remaining in the current season I have finally advanced to the Modern Champion Two. Competition in the Modern league at high levels is very un-even, I encounter lots of scholars rated in mid four thousand points all the way to mid five thousand points, but at the same time I often see opponents that are about four hundred points below my rating and in the mid three thousand points.

State of The Modern League

As you can see from the screenshot above the competition in the Modern Champion is varied, there are some top scholars and some Champion Two level players as well as Champion three players and even Diamond level players.

Liquidity bots are also there if you don't turn them off, I find it that it takes much longer without the liquidity bots. And liquidity bots battles are easier if your ranking is below high Champion Three, once you get towards the top of Champion Three the difficulty of these liquidity bots goes up significantly. It also depends on the ruleset, for some rulesets I feel like liquidity bots are harder to beat because they typically have more complete decks that human players.

Champion Leaderboard

The Champion Leaderboard is much harder than Diamond Leaderboard. With Diamond leaderboard it is pretty easy to place in the top ten, in fact top three are achievable, but with Champion Leaderboard even top 100 is a challenge.

With a rating of 4040 in Champion Two I am currently in the seventy seventh position on the Champion Leaderboard and am looking to receive fifty thousand Glint tokens.

If you look at the top twenty you will see that there is only one non-scholar player in the top twenty on the leaderboard: Gamer08. And Kesryn is at number one spot. I have met Kesryn or more accurately top Splinterlands scholar Rukawa.Red more than once this season:

And it didn't end well for me going against the top pro who is also playing with a much stronger card deck. In fact Rukawa.Red is operating three of the top four accounts on the Champion Leaderboard...

Scholars are basically occupying the top thirty as there are a total of three non-scholar accounts in the top thirty. After top thirty we start seeing non-scholar players like bravetofu and @tarazkp and the second half of the top 100 leaderboard is where the non-scholar players really start to become a clear majority.

And the same can be observed on the leaderboard last season as you can see from the image above. Almost seems like we need two leaderboards for scholars and amateurs :)

As you can see I was able to place in the top seventy at sixty eights position and take home a hundred thousand Glint tokens.

Champion Two League Advancement Rewards

So what do League Advancement rewards for Champion Two look like?

You get a pretty good number of chests for advancing to Champion Two: fourteen minor chests, twelve major chests and five Ultimate chests! Ultimate chests are the most interesting part of the league advancement as it would take fifty thousand Glint tokens to get these five Ultimate Chests in the Glint store...

As you can see I have thousands of Legendary and Alchemy Potions, so I always use both types of potions when opening my chests.

And that is what we are opening here, so let's see what I got this time around!

I would not call this pull great...

Particularly disappointing are the five Ultimate Chests above... Would you call these Ultimate rewards? I got a common card twice which I already have maxed out and one rare card that I am still working on maxing out and some merits which I am just accumulating at this point as all of my Gladiator cards are maxed out and four entries into the weekly drawing for reward cards...

And that is why I don't gable on Ultimate chests in the Glint store... I find it a better use of Glint to buy energy at the start of the season.
