Eternal Tofu is Still a Great Summoner

Introduction

With all the counters to Eternal Tofu, this summoner is no longer as dominant in Modern as it used to be, but even though it is no longer the easy to spam summoner, it is still a great legendary summoner to play in many instances, and even when it is countered with a summoner Bella Ratajowlski that was specifically designed to counter Eternal Tofu you still can beat the opponent if you play your cards right.

In this post I am going to feature a battle where I got perfectly countered by @chiboulette1r or more accurately mario08 the scholar piloting the Chiboulette1r account. And still I was able to win the battle despite Bella Ratajowlski being used on the other side.

As you can see my opponent played Bella Ratajowlski summoner that gives deflect to all of their units that negates the thorns that get equipped by the Eternal Tofu, it also gives all the units in the Ulund bloodline a shield, which halves physical damage to all the friendly units in Ulund bloodline.

You can also see that my opponent was able to field more cards on the battle field probably thanks to the three mana he was able to save on his summoner as Bella Rarajowlski takes four mana to play while Eternal Tofu takes seven mana. So the numeric breakdown is five cards fielded by Mario08 vs four cards fielded by me.

In the first round my team was able to take out their tank Halfling Refugee, which is important as our Halfling Refugee is still in play and can heal itself. The reason our tank is still standing is because Eternal Tofu provided two extra health as well as a divine shield which absorbed the first strike from the enemy.

Let's see if our luck is going to continue.

Round two was another good round for us as we were able to dispatch two more cards from their side and at the start of the third round we are three to four with a couple units on our side boosted by the kills due to the Blood Moon ruleset where all units have Bloodlust ability where it adds plus one to all stats after dealing a killing blow.

Round three was not as great for us as we lost one of our boosted cards and their Olivia of the Brook has gotten the kill and a nice boost to her abilities, that is potentially threatening to our team. We start Round two with only one non boosted damage dealer with two units in front of it potentially susceptible to the negative Weary ability.

In round four our Buttercup Mauler (which I don't have maxed out btw) got a really crucial kill dispatching the boosted Olivia of the Brook with a single shot. Our Halfling Refugee got weary and missed her healing and a five point strike, which is not good. Still at the start of the round five we seem to be at a distinct advantage with three cards on the field versus just one for Mario08.

Fifth and sixth round featured our team slowly grinding against their last remaining card and at the very start of round five we lost our tank and that boosted their Ferrous Brewer and made him harder to take down. Our Ironwing Juggernaut also got Weary and missed taking his shot, but he served as a meat shield really well, while our Buttercup Mauler kept at it.

And finally in round seven after another failure to strike from our Juggernaut Buttercup finished the Ferrous Brewer with the final strike for five points and won the game for us.

A nice win for our team and over twenty SPS for this Modern Champion battle win.
