Interesting Opportunities in Splinterlands Right Now

Introduction

Sometimes when things get really bad it creates interesting long term opportunities. Think of real estate after the 2007/2008 crash where nobody wanted homes and the prices went down to some really attractive levels until about 2012. Think of silver and gold crash of 2021 and 2022 when I was buying silver at around $15 and look at it now.

This means that when nobody wants something it creates an interesting time to buy that asset. I view Splinterlands in that way right now and to some extent crypto and Hive in particular. Look at Hive One Year Chart:

That one year Hive chart above just looks like doom and gloom, and yet it could be bottoming out right now...

In the case of Splinterlands it has been a brutal bear market since pretty much 2021 and asset prices as well as SPS token price definitely reflect that. Just take a look at the SPS token chart since October 2021:

We are down from $1 a token to about half a cent a token. Could it go lower? Yes it can always go lower but buying here is a lot better than any time between 2021 and July of 2024. Since July of 2024 SPS has not gone anywhere pretty much:

We are closing in on two years of a bottoming out action in the SPS token that has traded in the range of half a cent to a cent for almost two years. It is no wonder that it created a slow bleed in Splinterlands players and a lack of interest in the game. This lack of interest resulted in some interesting opportunities, because a lot less people are playing and watching what is going on in Splinterlands.

Current Opportunities in Splinterlands

SPS Tokens
The most obvious opportunity and the most liquid is obviously SPS at $0.0062 it is closer to the bottom of the two year trading range than to the top. I am not projecting it to come back to the $1 highs, but even a return to the six cent range would be a ten times on your investment.

Conclave Arcana Packs
You probably have seen notifications pop up in the game like the ones in the image below:

As you see we have about nine days left in the Conclave Arcana pack sale and every day more and more packs are getting burned and sold. But the reason you started seeing these notifications is that people started to buy and open these packs because while the number of packs have been going down for about a year due to pack burn the number of packs bought and opened has remained fairly low.

So this created a situation where the chances to get a jackpot prize in a Conclave Arcana pack is much higher than it has ever been, here is a calculation of the chances of getting a jackpot prize in various pack types by Bravetofu today:

And there are about five days left. So buying packs here and opening them the last few days offers an interesting opportunity of pulling gold arcane or black foils. You can see the list of all remaining prizes here:

As you can see many are still at one out of ten available and overall only 601 prizes were given out of 4584 prizes with 3983 jackpot prizes still up for grabs.

As interesting as it is to grab a few packs and get a black foil arcane that sells between $88 and $564:

Pack opportunity requires investment of DEC, fiat currency or other crypto assets. The brutal bear market in Splinterlands also created opportunities to earn extra SPS without any additional investment

Survival Mode

Splinterlands recently re-introduced an updated Survival mode. There are major changes to this mode and based on what I saw in my guild chat many Splinterlands players are not aware of all the important changes in this mode.

For example people still think that you cannot combine cards that are on a cooldown from being used in the Survival mode. There is no clear understanding among players that Survival mode now doesn't impact their cards and is simply a free bonus mode to earn more SPS.

Take a look at the human only brackets. Nobody is playing in these brackets. Originally Splinterlands came out with a super overpowered liquidity bots last season and it was not possible to get any wins against those. Now this problem is resolved and liquidity bots became beatable if you have a maxed out deck.

The maxed out deck brackets offer a particularly interesting opportunity at this time. Brackets five and six have nineteen and twenty five players in them! That is basically playing just against liquidity bots and you can accumulate a lot of reward points in these brackets.

So where is everybody? Well they are all in the automated brackets, but even so based on the numbers below I believe people are not fully utilizing this extra SPS token earning opportunity:

Conclusion

A five year long severe bear market in Splinterlands has created some interesting opportunities for accumulating Splinterlands assets such as SPS, Conclave Arcana jackpot prizes and free SPS from the new Survival mode. Those who pay attention and stay involved may benefit when we see the return of the Gaming narrative in the crypto markets.
