One of my Favorite Modern Cards: Conjurer's Hubris

Introduction

When it comes to playing in Modern Champion Two and above you mostly need to have maxed out modern cards, because competition is really top heavy and you meet either really strong modern players or professional Splinterlands players called scholars.

In the case of the Conjurer's Hubris this is not the case, this card is usable even at gold league level in Modern Champion Two and above. The proof is the battle I am going to share where I have finally defeated @bravetofu in this battle. We probably met twenty to thirty times in the game and I would loose every time, but this time Conjurer's Hubris helped me win for the first time ever.

Conjurer's Hubris

Conjurer's Hubris is a special SPS staking promo card that just went out of the Voucher shop. This is a dual splinter card that can be played in Fire and Water splinters and for a hefty eleven mana this card comes with some really interesting abilities. At level six you gain Ambush ability where Conjurer's Hubris is able to take a turn before the battle even starts. Combined with a dual strike of two melee at level six and three magic damage you have two chances to apply stun ability.

It also has an Apex Strike ability where it targets the enemy unit with the most power. This ability is really useful as you can take offline your opponent's most powerful attacker before it even has a chance to strike the first time. This card also has a speed of four and seven health. If you were to upgrade this card from level six you gain one extra melee attack at level seven and at level eight you gain Expose ability where you have 80% chance of removing Forcefield, Lookout, Deflect Shield, Void, Void Armor Cleanse or Immunity after a successful attack.

While the extra melee attack and the Expose ability are definitely useful they are not critical, and I didn't have enough vouchers even with over a million SPS staked and getting validator voucher rewards.

You can currently buy this card at level six for fifty dollars or the max level card is available for $106.60 by combining multiple cards as there is no maxed out copy at the market right now.

The Battle

This is a fairly high mana battle as fifty two mana is available for only four open card slots. All splinters are playable with the exception of Life splinter. Bravetofu went with a classical speed and power lineup lead by Nidhoggr and I went with the hard to hit tank and Conjurer's Hubris as my ace in the sleeve. I believe that Conjurer's Hubris played a critical role in this battle.

Before the battle even started Conjurer's Hubris placed a stun and a poison on brave's main damage dealer and that basically took out Zyrx the Emberglace out of the first round and at the start of the second round the poison combined with the burn took it out of the game all together!

In the second round brave managed to take out my hard to hit tank, but Conjurer's Hybris proved his worth once again by placing stun and poison on the second strongest damage dealing unit that was responsible for executing my hard to hit tank!

In the third round Conjurer's Hubris placed stun on the Rage and effectively made this a win.

The rest of the battle was pretty much a matter of time!
And as a result my first win over bravetofu!
