Playing Modern and Wild - Getting More Weekly Fortune Draw Entries

Introduction

In a recent weekly fortune draw I won a Tandi Janda mint number three out of ten:

To get a gold foil variant card that is limited to a total of ten is pretty amazing! That is a highlight in the Splinterlands experience. This got me thinking, how can I increase the chances of winning weekly fortune draw prizes? Obviously there is renting more SPS up to five million, but that quickly becomes cost prohibitive. There is opening most of the chests in week one or week two of the season to get more fortune draw entries, I am already doing that and starting to run low on my glint tokens.

One thing that you have to keep in mind is that Modern league has a separate fortune draw entries from Wild League. Obviously there is more glint in Wild, however Modern might be competitive in terms of SPS earnings, though I have not risen high enough to experience parity yet.

Modern and Wild Weekly Fortune Draw Entries

One challenge when playing weekly fortune draws in both Wild and Modern is how do you get 30 wins per day to get the full entries when energy re-fills at only 24 energy per day. Even a 100% win rate will not get you there.

Obviously if you open some chests you will get some additional energy, but even with that extra energy getting maximum entries in both leagues without outright buying energy for glint or DEC is extremely challenging.

One way to manage playing in both is to choose where you get higher fortune entries league first and once you get your fifteen entries move on the the league where your fortune entries are lower.

As you can see from the images above and below I have higher ranking and higher fortune entries in the Wild league right now:

What you can also see is that I didn't have enough energy to get the last five wins in Wild and I made a bet that with my seven remaining energy I will be able to get my six entries in Modern, because I am playing at a lower level and with my cards in Modern the opponents are likely to be fairly weak at my current ranking so my win rate would be higher in Modern than in Wild where the opponents are really tough due to my already high ranking.

Also, another thing I was considering is the fact that I am going for the Silver Leaderboard in Modern, so I should try to play at least one hundred battles in Modern to get there. As you can see right now I have not played enough battles for the leaderboard placement in Modern:

As you can see I have only forty five battles in modern and I need one hundred to appear on the leaderboard. You can also see that my win rate is pretty high at 77.78% and much better than my win rate in Wild. And in Modern my rank is high enough to place at number four right now which would give me a leaderboard prize of fifty thousand glint tokens.

I do have the highest win rate on the leaderboard so far, so I can realistically attempt to fight for the top three spots. Naturally as my ranking improves my opponents in modern will become harder and my win rate will go down. But even with that consideration, I believe there is a chance of placing in the top three.

If we take a look at my Wild leaderboard standing and in rate you will see that the win rate is much lower at 52.68% and my raking is at 224 after 112 battles. This makes it obvious that I will not be placing in the top 100 of the Wild Champion leaderboard. To get fifty thousand glint tokens for placing at the position number 100 at this time you need a 3,840+ ranking which is more than two hundred points higher than my current ranking. This is obvious that there is no chance of getting on the leaderboard in champion.

And looking at the win rates we can see that it takes around 10 energy to get five wins necessary to get weekly fortune draw entries in wild and since I had only seven the likelihood of getting five wins was very low. So my options were to save the energy for another day or to try in win in Modern. I chose Modern and it paid off.

Conclusion

Playing in Modern and Wild leagues lets you best optimize your weekly fortune entries, but providing more flexibility and that results in higher weekly fortune entries overall. And with higher fortune entries you have a higher chance of winning jackpot prizes in the weekly fortune draws such as maxed out black foils or maxed out gold variants of a very limited circulation.
