Splinterlands Season Review and Statistics

πŸ“– Introduction

Here is my Season 180 report covering battle performance, earnings, rewards, tournaments and market activity. Can you believe that Splinterlands has been playable for 360 weeks already! I have been playing Splinterlands since season 68 so for 224 weeks or over four years out of almost seven years that Splinterlands has been around!

newplot.png

Above is the image of my Merit earnings, I have been playing brawls almost from day one and as you can see I have been very consistent without missing a single brawl in the last four years!

SPS.png

Above is my SPS Earnings chart since season 152 or just before the Splinterlands Validators went live. I could not match the record SPS earnings of 18.5 thousand SPS I did last season, but this season's almost thirteen thousand SPS is also nothing to sneeze at.

SPS.Rewards.png

This chart above is also interesting, it shows my liquid SPS rewards from the start of the SPS Validation rewards. With three spikes above six thousand SPS per month for Block Validation were all special circumstances where I was able to be in the top ten SPS validators due to being the first one to be able to bring my validator online after various chain halting events.

Most seasons my validator rewards were around five thousand SPS per season. The orang line is staked SPS earnings, they appear to be quite stable and right above thousand SPS per season. And finally the purple line is my SPS rewards for holding an active Validator license.

By the way, you might have noticed that the format of this report is slightly different from my previous Splinterlands season reports. This is because I am using a new tool from @beaker007 to collect the data for this report. This is a great tool and you should check it out if you want to better visualize and understand your performance in Splinterlands: https://spl-stats.com/

Wild Diamond I2059948.3%3680#575

So last season I once again decided to see if mixing Modern and Wild play would make sense for my account. The result you see above, clearly I am better in Modern than I am in Wild. From now on I plan to stick to the Modern play only.

Not only my win rate was better in Modern, but as you will see below I earned significantly more SPS tokens playing in Modern Diamond vs Wild Diamond.

πŸ’° Earnings β€” @seattlea

Lets take a look at my detailed earnings for this season, the following illustrates my total earnings of SPS in season 180:

Total SPS Earnings#
Total SPS Earned and Staked 12,760.383

If we take a look at the sources of my SPS earnings we see that SPS block validation continues to be the top source of my SPS earnings followed by modern ranked battle rewards, staking rewards and wild battle rewards.

Survival and brawl rewards are where I earn the least SPS, which is kind of disappointing, this means that Survival mode is not very viable to play at this point and Brawl rewards even at tier five are quite dismal.

SPS Earnings Sources#
SPS block validation 5,642.170
SPS ranked battle (modern) 2,533.314
SPS earned 1,624.943
SPS staking reward 1,527.541
SPS ranked battle (wild) 684.779
SPS validator reward 302.859
SPS survival bracket 226.514
SPS brawl reward 218.263

If we look at my Voucher token earnings you will see that I earn about three hundred vouchers per season based on approximately seven hundred thousand SPS staked and I earned eighty two vouchers for holding SPS Validator license.

Voucher Earnings Sources#
VOUCHERS earned from staking SPS 216.841
VOUCHERS earned from holding Validator licenses 82.592
Total VOUCHERS Earned 299.433

Looking at my Glint earnings it is clear that this last season I earned a surplus of over one hundred thousand SPS compared to my Glint expenditures.

This would not have been possible if I didn't earn an extra one hundred fifty thousand glint from placing in the top twenty five on the Modern Diamond leaderboard.

Glint Earnings Sources#
Glint ranked reward 284,382
Glint season reward 284,382
GLINT modern leaderboard prizes 150,000
Total GLINT Earned 718,764

Merits are an interesting token in Splinterlands eco-system, it used to be a highly desirable token as it let you upgrade your gladiator cards that are used in Brawls, but right now I feel like this token has lost all of its utility for me and I am sure for many other players.

This is due to the fact that all of my Gladiator cards are pretty much maxed out, so I keep collecting the Merit tokens hoping for a release of the new Gladiator cards later this year.

Here is the total balance: 454,006 MERITS and I keep earning about forty thousand Merits every season, so I would be able to get some playable new Gladiator cards once they come out...

MERITS Earnings Sources#
MERITS draw rewards 24,218
Merits brawl prize 13,200
MERITS purchase reward merits 4,000
Total MERITS Earned 41,418

If we look at my cost you can see that I spent 530K of Glint compared to 718K of Glint that I have earned. I also staked all of my SPS tokens as I believe that if Splinterlands is successful long term then SPS token will be the best way to capitalize on that success.

Costs#
Glint reward draw spend 525,000
SPS stake tokens 12,760.383
GLINT purchase reward merits 5,000
DEC purchase wild pass 2,000
DEC purchase ranked draw pass 250

🎁 Season Rewards β€” @seattlea

Minor: 36xMajor: 27xUltimate: 9x

As you can see from above I was able to earn a good number of chests from advancing leagues, I would have earned even more league advancement chests, but I decided not to advance in Wild league into the Champion in order to keep the cost of purchasing energy lower next season.

As you can see from above I chose to spend my glint on minor and major chest draws, I didn't buy any rarity draws or Ultimate chests. My reasons for not purchasing Ultimate chests is that I feel like they are too much a roll of the dice and my glint tokens are better spent purchasing energy to play more battles at the start of the season.

I know I said above that Merits lost all of their utility in the game, but I am still hoping that the new Gladiator cards are coming so I am slowly accumulating Merits by buying the first two tranche from the Rewards shop using a little bit of Glint tokens.

Fortune Draw Entries

Ranked
755x

My last two Fortune Draws were actually quite disappointing, despite having 755 fortune draw entries in the last two draws I have not won any cards, in fact I don't remember when I last won a card in Fortune Draws... It feels like something has changed as I have been winning frequently at the start of the Fortune Draws.

Closing notes

I have definitely learned that focusing on the Modern Format in the current Splinterlands state of the game is going to be more fun and rewarding and this last season has proven it to me in a definitive fashion.

This report has data acquired with the help of the Splinterlands Statistics tool SPL Stats. I am running a local Docker version available at: (git-repo).

My bot only got me to Diamond 3 in wild. I have started playing Frontier on my own though. It's frustrating with so few cards and so many of them are high mana.
