The Glint of Change: A New Era in Splinterlands Rewards

Today I would like to share my opinion on a somewhat controversial change that is about to come out. I think many people are not very happy with the last change with max level cards being able to be used in any league and they are projecting this dissatisfaction to the second phase of the ranked rewards changes.

Splinterlands team unveils the next evolution in our ranked battle experience - a comprehensive overhaul of the reward system. Set to launch on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, this update promises to revolutionize how players are rewarded for their strategic skills and dedication to the game.

Glint Token, a new currency that will replace the conventional Reward Points earned through ranked battles. Glint tokens are non-transferrable, ensuring a fair and balanced ecosystem within the Splinterlands universe. The acquisition of Glint tokens mirrors the previous Reward Points system, with factors such as current rating, card usage, guild building level, and staked SPS balance influencing the rewards earned.

One notable change lies in the differentiation between Modern and Wild format battles. Winners of Modern format matches will receive a 50% bonus in Glint tokens, incentivizing players to switch into Modern. Right now many players sacrifice SPS rewards and play in Wild because Wild is so easy where you play against Bots that have low level cards and you are easily able to reach Diamond league with the Silver level deck. This is why many choose to earn more reward points for chests and not SPS that is really hard to win in Modern as competition there is fierce!

In a significant departure from tradition, the age-old loot chest system will make way for the innovative Reward Shop. Here, players can utilize their Glint tokens to purchase a diverse array of items. The Reward Shop introduces the concept of "Draws," offering five tiers of random card rewards. These draws closely resemble loot chests but exclusively contain soul-bound reward cards, eliminating extraneous rewards like potions and SPS. What's more, players can choose the tier of draw they wish to purchase, catering to both novice and seasoned players alike.

Additionally, Glint tokens can be exchanged for Merits, facilitating the acquisition of coveted Guild items such as Gladius packs. Energy and Potions will also be available for purchase, with the cost of Energy dynamically adjusted based on the player's rating.

For those seeking exclusive prestige, limited-edition in-game titles will be offered as premium rewards in the Reward Shop. These titles, available in Rare, Epic, and Legendary tiers, serve as symbols of achievement within the Splinterlands community.

Looking ahead, the Splinterlands team promises ongoing updates to the Reward Shop, introducing exciting new items and features to enrich the player experience. From promo cards to cosmetics and beyond, the possibilities are endless!

For me the primary focus will be:

1. Reward Cards. I still need to max out my legendary and epic cards, so I will be buying the highest tier Draws as they will have the highest chances of higher rarity and gold foil cards. But due to the 50% cost increase after the first 10 cards I will have to potentially purchase my second and even third choice items.
   

   

2. Merits this is my second choice in terms of rewards and it looks like I will be buying 2000 per season before the 50% price increase.

3 . Energy - looks like I can buy up to 25 per day

4 . Titles - I will be saving up the remainder of Glints for the legendary title:
