Using Bella Ratajowlski Summoner to Beat Top Scholar in Modern Diamond 1 / Champion 2

Introduction

In this post I am going to look at one of my recent battles in High Modern Diamond league / Champion league for @fatjimmy. This is a battle where two players chose to use Bella Ratajowlski summoner. Fat Jimmy or more actually his scholar J3FF has access to more cards than I do, but my strategy has proven to be better in this battle.

Ruleset and Strategy

In this battle we have a standard ruleset so no changes to standard play is required. We also have a total mana of thirty three available here. I would say this is a medium mana battle and we have only two splinters available: Fire and Life.

I must admit that I don't have a super strong summoner for the fire splinter. I do have a legendary Rebellion summoner Risqruel Drath available, but I used this legendary summoner only three times in my last one hundred battles and I lost all three of those battles. Basically I use this summoner only when I want to give all my units a flying ability.

For life I have a choice of Elias Max Pruitt, Eternal Tofu or Bella Ratajowlski summoners. I felt that in this situation thirty three mana was not enough to play a legendary summoner that takes seven mana, besides Eternal Tofu is not very effective against Bella Ratajowlski as she gives a shield to all of the units on the field that are lead by her.

Once I settled on my summoner it was all about putting together a team that benefits the most from the Bloodline synergy. As you can see we both played a key monster: Moribund Arrowbait in the first position. This monster is key to play with Bella Ratajowlski for only four mana it hast one magic damage and two ranged damage as well as three shield, three speed and two health.

The key abilities that are in play here are a combination of Bloodline Tribute and Rebirth. Bloodline tribute boosts a number of key stats of all monster that are in the same bloodline or have a Shape Shift ability. Because of rebirth this boost happens twice.

So my strategy here was to use as many of the monsters that I have that would benefit from the Bloodline Tribute. I did put one monster that doesn't benefit from Bloodline Tribute: Ironwing Juggernaut, but this monster is just a great meat shield for only three mana, that I had to play it in the second position to keep my main damage dealers in the battle a bit longer.

In the third position I played Mystic Mudbinder that is a very high damage dealing and quite resilient monster. It comes with a base damage of there before the Bloodline Tribute boosts and also has armored strike ability and that is six points as that is how much shield it has before the boost from the Bloodline Tribute. It also has a void armor and self heal which make this a very tough monster on the battlefield.

In the fourth position I played Arcane Skinwalker, this neutral card has some important abilities such as Shapeshift that allows it to also benefit from the Bloodline Tribute and it has Silence ability that reduces magic damage of all opponents as well as an inspire ability that boosts the damage for friendly melee monsters by one point.

And finally last but not least we have Ulundin Regulator that also benefits from the Bloodline Tribute and has four melee damage two shield and six health before the Tribute boosts.

⚔️ The Battle

The Battle Against FatJimmy or more accurately Scholar J3FF

As you can see here J3FF is using the same summoner but a completely different monster lineup other than the first monster. Let's see how this battle is going to work out.

I must say that the first round was fairly un-eventful other than J3FF seems to be taking out my Arrowbait faster than I am taking out his.

In the second round it appeared that J3FF has started to pull ahead.

In the third round our Mystic Mudbinder really showed off his power and resilience and singlehandedly has turned around the flow of the battle!

After the fourth round it looks pretty clear that this battle is won!

And at the start of round six we win this battle without loosing any more of our cards.

And we win an important battle against a much higher ranked opponent. Because the ranking difference is over five hundred points I got +40 to my ranking despite not being in a 3+ win streak! And over 24 SPS tokens for this win was a very pleasant bonus :)

Fat Jimmy is at number 13 currently on a Modern Champion Leaderboard! And J3FF is piloting @bjangles account that is number eleven on the Modern Champion Leaderboard.
