Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Featuring Keep Your Distance in a 14 round grind to a victory.

Featuring Bronze League Summoner and Monsters in Action!
I'm excited to bring you a bronze League brawl match that showcases a three rule set Marathon match where I was able to eek out a victory. We're highlighting to keep your distance real set where no monsters with melee are allowed, and I think I did quite well.

CHALLENGE RULES
RULESET: KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

Description: Units with melee attacks may not be used.
Use Phase, Void, Void Armor, and Magic Reflect to counter magic attacks.
Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks.
Units with 2 types of attack (which include melee) cannot be used.
Reasons Why I like it
I think I find this one of the most difficult rules such to play with since so many monsters are mainly based. This all so means that the monsters that are chosen will be heavily arrow and magic focused without many counters or ability to attack from the first position. While magic is great sometimes it can be negated to the point of where you're not doing any damage, but if you go too much on arrows then you won't be able to attack from the first position. It can be a difficult situation to parents

Initial Rule Set and Mana Gameplay Thoughts
- Rulesets
That's a lot of rules such to consider. I think that they keep your distance will set will push my selection to eliminate fire as an option. Water and life also have a cleanse ability for me at bronze so they move up towards my selection ranking, while death will reduce the magic attacks by one or arrow attacked by one if so chosen. The biggest benefit I get is equalizer will make my small weak monsters have the same health and allow me to last long er. - Mana
19 minutes is extremely limited, especially considering the poison and the normal sets it will be difficult to balance out the team - Splinters
Most expenses are available, and the ones I really want are. I will definitely be focusing on this has cleanse to keep my monsters healthy and poison free if possible
- Summoner BORTUS
Since this is a brawl and there's no penalty for lower cylinders I chose to play Bortus to counter any magic monsters - First Position SPIRIT HOARDER
While traditionally not a strong first position monster come up with equalizer it is now has as much health as anyone else and it can heal monsters that are poisoned, sniped, or splash damaged
Second Position FLAGULON REINE
This is the monster I'm hoping to get on a roll, it will do some splash damage and attack the first monster and I'm hoping to get some knockoutsThird Position RIVER NYMPH
This should cleanse the monsters in first which should either be Spirit hoarder and impossibly Flagoun ReineFourth Position MERDAALI GUARDIAN
If I'm going to have one healer on a team I might as well have two. This should help all of my monsters survive as long as possible as I can heal Spirit order, who then heals the back row.

Opponent Lineup & Match Play
- Summoner BORTUS
Great minds think alike and they went the same direction that I did - DJINN OSHANNUS
Great choice, especially with Bortus since it's void will eliminate most of my magic attacks - MERDAALI GUARDIAN
Solid choice to provide a healer in the game to keep Djinn Oshannus healthy and potentially when on poisen - RIVER NYMPH
Very similar to my own lineup, if a cleanse to keep Djinn Oshannus healthy after the first round - CREEPING OOZE
And only available because it's a level one, and doesn't have melee. I'm not sure if the slow it hits will do much damage for me, and I might have put it in second place versus first.
Round 1

Not sure how this is going to play out as it clearly is really even and no one's going to be doing much damage. As round one plays out not much damage is done on my part or their part. All the damage that was done to my side was healed, and the only damage I did with one splash damage to guardian.
Round 2

Round two is where the poison starts to get applied and it immediately starts to drain everyone's health. As the round continues to play out I have noticed that Spirit hoarder does not take any damage that isn't healed by the end of the round, and it is going to heal my back row one by one throughout the match. Good news is my opponent is slowly starting to lose health from both splash and poison in the back row.
Round 3

It's dawning on me now just how long this match could take. Good news is looks like I have plenty of healing to keep my monsters around bad news is I'm not doing anything damage to Djinn Oshannus and my only hope is to get a knockout Flagulon Reine
Round 4

Round four plays out just like the other rounds except for I am very lucky to secure my first knockout and trigger a bloodlust on Flagulon Reine. This means I'll know we're doing damage to Djinn Oshannus and slowly bringing his health down
Round 5

This is going to be a real marathon of a match at this point since all of the healers are doing the work on my side, while I only take one health away from Djinn Oshannus each round
Round 6

Most of the damage done around 6:00 was actually done by poison to my opponent. This means no more bloodlust is available for me as a knockout, while we grind away at the health. It becomes apparent that Spirit order cannot heal the back real fast enough to keep them all around and pretty soon I will start to lose them
Round 7

Not much happening here we'll move on to round 8
Round 8

It dawned on me in round 8 that it was really important for me to put Flagulon Reine in second position as it is healed first in round 8 meaning it will survive the poison of round 9
Round 9

After the poison we're down to two monsters for me, one monster for him. I do one damage per round, he'll do one damage per round. Good news is Spirit order will completely heal Flagoun Reine in a few rounds and I should secure victory. At this point it's just going to be a grind of a ground by round one damage to each team.
Round 10

Round 11

Round 12

Slowly getting there
Round 13

The end is near
Round 14

Finally victory is achieved and unable to pull off a real marathon of a grinding session. It took me a long time but it was a good victory overall. Having double healers with both triage and tank heel was imperative to my victory
Thoughts - and Chances to Win Again
I

do love seeing a 100% chance to repeat victory, and I really think that I played as about perfectly. It could have gone differently if my opponent had picked lower health cards so none of us had a card worth and health so my healing had less of an impact. It's hard to know what other options they had but for the lineup they picked I picked the perfect counter
