Will Land 1.5 expansion finally unveil the potential of Dark Energy Crystals?

Hello fellow Splinterlanders!

I'm here with a fascinating hypothesis that might give you a reason to look at our beloved Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) in a whole new light. Bear with me as we delve into the heart of this exciting conjecture that could change the way we all play Splinterlands!

As we know, Splinterlands is planning to release a fresh expansion, titled "Land 1.5". This update will introduce a new layer of gameplay, where we can stake our cards on land plots to generate resources. As per the recently published whitepaper, each land plot will have five slots for staking cards.

Here's where things get interesting: we'll also have the opportunity to stake DEC on these slots to maximize our resource production. How much, you ask? A staggering 10,000 DEC per slot!

If we do some quick maths, considering there are over 122,000 surveyed land plots currently, each housing five slots, we'd need over 6 billion DEC to fully stake all slots. That's more than the current DEC circulation, which stands at around 4.75 billion!

Yes, you read that right! To achieve maximum efficiency, we would need more DEC than is currently in circulation. And if we consider the potential 150,000 land plots, the total DEC required to stake would rise to an astronomical 7.5 billion!

Now, what does this mean for the value of our DECs?

Well, even though staked DECs aren't burned, their increased demand might make them a much sought-after asset. The speculation is that landowners will strive to optimize their resource production, thereby driving up the demand for DEC.

This, in my opinion, could lead to a surge in DEC value, potentially making it scarce post the "Land 1.5" release. Consequently, players might start burning SPS tokens to mint new DEC, bolstering the prices of both SPS and DEC. Could we finally see DEC hitting the soft peg value of 1 USD? It's a thrilling thought!
