Newly on board Splinterland and why I invest heavily into this Blockchain game
Hello, my beloved gaming community. My name is KC a.k.a ShadowWolf (That's the name I had been using for the last 15 years in any games I played). Growing up as a kid I did not have a chance to own and play on any gaming console and I guess that is one of the reasons when I finally have "adult" money I was immediately immersed into the gaming world. Buying consoles from Playstations, Xbox to computer games and eventually mobile games.
I love gaming, as an avid gamer, I must have spent thousands and thousands of dollars yearly playing all kinds of mobile games for the last 5~6 years but unfortunately have nothing to show for except a bunch of in-game characters or items that do not translate to real-world value. I can spend over $10,000 on the game and can't even sell the account for $500 in the end when I don't feel like playing it anymore.
Around Christmas of 2021, I stumbled upon this blockchain game "Splinterlands" when I was checking out the new hype on all the new play-to-earn blockchain games that are flooding the market with people claiming they can make hundreds of dollars per day" just by playing". After some research, I immediately sold some of my other investments and moved the funds right into this game to get a head start. Why Splinterlands? Let me list all the reasons that helped me make that decision.
1) Proven track records on value.
The game has been around for over 3 years "Steem Monster" was the original name of the game. Including the most recent released card pack (Chaos Legion) this will be the seventh edition of Splinterlands card sets. The first edition will be the OG "Alpha" cards, followed by "Beta", "Promo", "Untamed", "Dice" and the latest "Chaos Legion" Due to the deflationary nature of the cards, the available supplies of them will decrease as players started leveling up their cards and the value will gradually increase over time due to fewer supplies and more demands. Fewer supplies met with increased demands equal increasing value. The game also withstands a bear market and a few incidents (not caused by the direction and plans of the game) that could easily destroy any other games out there and made a strong comeback.
2) Fun and enjoyable gameplay
The game is actually fun and very enjoyable to play, I've seen so many people that just rushing to the next "best" play to earn games and hoping to make tons of profit without investing much into the game and just wanted to make great returns on their investment right away, doesn't matter the ROI is unrealistic or unsustainable or if the game is even a great and fun game. All they cared about is making a quick and fast profit right now and almost in every case those games eventually fizzled out and became a game of musical chairs to see who's the latecomer to the game and left holding the bag. To me, the fun of the game always comes first and any growth in the value of what I invest into the game is just the cherry on top.
3) Easy to sell, trade, or purchase the digital assets in-game
The game is operated on Hive Blockchain and you can easily use any exchanges on Hive like Hive Engine, Beeswap to trade for in-game assets or you can purchase them directly from the options menu within Splinterlands. Splinterlands is one of the largest traded assets in Hive exchange and dominated the top spot on volume traded.

4) Plenty of investment opportunities
There are many ways to grow your investment in this game, from simply staking SPS, flipping cards, vouchers, and all other digital assets to providing your funds into the liquidity pool for airdrop points. You can invest your funds based on your style of play. And the latest Chaos Legion card is plentiful to pick from and you can definitely get the best bang for your bucks when shopping for those cards.
5) Great planning and roadmap for the future
The game developers share the same love for the game as we the players and many of the team are also avid fans of the game itself, is safe to say we all share the same goal and the love for the game. Looking around is not hard to see "Splinterlands" stood out above all others play to earn games. From easy and great communication between players and the developers to ambitious goals for the future clearly, they did not let the success hinder their focus and with the core team growing to 10x the size we can only expect even better results and rapid growth of the game. They have a clear goal to expand the game beyond just a basic card game and aim to become a truly decentralized game space that rivals metaverse-like projects and the best part is the other project is only at the very beginning phase "Splinterlands" already far ahead of the crowd.

I don't look anymore, but was lucky to get in at the end of 2018. As a consequence I have a large pile of Beta's to use. It's good to hear that comment from someone who has looked around to see what else is out there.
Nice to hear from one of the OG in Splinterlands and yea, I stopped looking after I found Splinterlands and just focus on this awesome game.
If you think that now then stick around. It's a little in the doldrums as I type, which means things will only get better. It will reward you only if you invest, and it's far from a get rich quick like many of these others appear to be.
You also have this blogging platform on the same chain I see you have discovered, it's a bit of a 2 in 1 deal.
I am focusing on the accumulation phase, I am not worried about the profit at all. I enjoy the game and everything else is just a bonus for me.

Very similar story for me too :) I started with a pc on 1999 on gaming, added wii and xbox along the way! Now I only play Splinterlands, cause it's so much fun and there are endless new heights you want to reach all the time! P2E games these days are mostly give you lots of promises but balancing a P2E game economy is not easy for game studios. Splinterlands is the real gem!

To me, the fun of the game comes first, being able to retain the value of the money you spent in the game is just a bonus but a major big plus. Splinterlands are the only game that I am playing every day now.
I'm in the game for three years and still play it every day. With more resources and a lot of experience under their belts I'm exacting a lot more coming in the next couple of years.
I sure wish I discover the game earlier, especially while lands and Untamed are still available. But I am super bullish about the game's future and looking forward to it.
