HIVE on FIRE! Is it being driven by Splinterlands?
Wow, HIVE is on fire today, jumping above 70 cents USD!
It looks like there are a huge burst of buying right at midnight UTC on September 3rd. This is especially interesting that the first large buy order was entered into right at day change.
This price increase has caused extreme volatility in several of my token holdings including @splinterlands DEC and SPS. However, it appears that while the ratio of DEC to HIVE has fallen, the DEC to USD has remained relatively stable around $0.0077.
SPS which has been falling steadily over the past week from just above $0.40 to $0.33. However, the burst of HIVE buying may have spilled over into the SPS market as prices have been rising back toward $0.40 today.
Is this massive HIVE purchase tied to Splinterlands? Considering the massive growth that the game has been experiencing lately, it's very possible. I am sure a big part of this growth is from Splinterlands but Hive is a great currency to build tokens off of too.
Yeah I agree. The timing of the rise in SPS prices occurred a very short time after the large HIVE purchase. Would love to be able to tie the two together. If I have some time this weekend I'll dig into the block explorer. I'm really enjoying the !PIZZA token as well as SPT too.

I am pretty sure that a big part of the growth comes from people buying HIVE to convert them to HBD. But of course Splinterlands also helps
