Introduction

We are a week into the year and halfway through the Splinterlands season 126. This post will be for the battle mage secrets. The theme featured this week is Armored Up. In this ruleset, all units get two armor.

My Strategy & Tips for Armored Up

My go to strategy for this ruleset is playing Immortalis. Immortalis has shatter which destroys armor upon attacking. It basically guarantees breaking all armor in one attack. Immortalis shreds through armor and there's really no point for the opponent to try to add protect or additional armor to their units. For this strategy, mainly you would just play Mycelic Infantry at the front with Mycelic Slipspawn in the back with support and dps in the middle. Immortalis is a must play if Earth is available.

In the cases where Earth element is available, then there's a lot of different strategies that are able to be played. A strategy to go for is Grandmaster Rathe and take advantage of that bonus armor to shield your whole team while focusing on magic damage to ignore the armor. There are also cases where Kelya can be played with Baakjira infront with some opportunity in the back. Even Jacek can be played since there is piercing which can do any extra damage through the armor. There's many different strategies as you can see and you just have to test it out to see what works for you depending on the restrictions in the ruleset.

Take note people tend to play magic so it's advisable to pick units that can counter magic with silence or magic reflect. You can also take rust to remove 2 armor. Now there's a new ability from Rebellion called armor strike which also makes for some interesting plays if applicable. I have not really played with this new ability so I can't really give advice on it but it can be really strong since that two armor would be giving two more damage for these armor strike units.

The Battle

The battle link can be found here. This was a brawl battle on my main account. I had home advantage for this battle. It was a 47 mana cap with Weak Magic, Armored up and Counterspell. The fire and water elements weren't usable in this ruleset.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner, Immortalis - I chose Immortalis as mentioned before it's a must choose summoner for armored up ruleset.

First Position, Mycelic Infantry - Mycelic Infantry is probably the best tank paired with Immortalis. It's just super hard to get through with double reduction in all types of attacks.

Second Position, *Queen Mycelia - Queen Mycelia was to provide support for the team. It can heal with triage for the taunt unit in the back. It can give armor to the whole team as well as give rust to opposing team which is helpful since they for sure will have + 2 armor from armored up.

Third Position, Goblin Psychic - Goblin Psychic is another support unit. I mentioned before in the tips to have silence to counter the expected magic units. It's also great for healing Mycelic Infantry and applying affliction to the enemy tank as well as dispelling if ever necessary.

Fourth Position, Venari Seedsmith - Venari Seedsmith is the main DPS in the team. It has great damage of four as well as decent speed so it won't miss as much. The scavenge plays into the late game as it can tank a bit for the last standing DPS.

Fifth Position, Supply Runner - Supply Runner is another DPS unit for this lineup but it also plays a huge support role by giving extra speed to the whole team.

Sixth Position, Mycelic Slipspawn - This unit was my main tank. It has taunt so it will attract and soak most of the damage before getting to my Mycelic Infantry.

Analysis of The Battle

This battle really showcases how strong Immortalis is in armored up. You can see that the opponent's unit tank had 9 armor that got removed even with the divine shield was up. Yes, any attack that lands will shatter the armor even if the opponent has divine shield which shields one hit. My team breezed through this battle. The opponent tried to add more armor from his summoner and Immortalis just made it useless. The opponent didn't go for any magic or any armor breaking units so he just couldn't get through my defeneses. He opted to put himself into a disadvantage and that led me to an easy victory.

Do I Like Armored Up?

Armored Up is an alright ruleset. There isn't too much strategy available if Immortalis is available. Usually everyone will just go straight for Immortalis from my battle experience. If Immortalis isn't available then there's actually a lot of different plays to go for which makes the battle interesting.
