Introduction

I mentioned in my one of my last Splinterlands posts about my thoughts on The Great Burning. Well I needed to follow up in this post because I said I would burn DEC and that's exactly what I did.

What Happened? & What's The Plan Now?

As you can see from the picture above, I burned 1,206,666.667 DEC for The Great Burning event in Splinterlands. Initially my plan was to burn 750k DEC but I got carried away. Initially in the first few hours I burned that 750k which was part of my plan. Then I started to see a ton of people started burning and I thought I might as well hold a better position to stay in top 60 for the epic title. Based on that idea, I ended up burning almost double of what I originally intended all just because I really wanted to get that epic title since I already committed.

Unfortunately, I have fallen out of the top 60 already and well I'm out of gas. In other words, I have ran out of funds to compete with those that are spending more money and burning more DEC than me. It makes me think of whether I have overspent and that I should've just stuck with my original plan. Anyways there's exciting news that we will able to use the guild power starting June 13th so I guess it's not all too bad. I'm still curious what the new guild buildings will be like. I will probably use the guild power to upgrade the townhall to level 7 and the shop to level 6 and I will wait and see what the new guild buildings will be like before thinking what to upgrade after.

How I Got The 1.2M DEC To Burn

Well I've saved up on Hive from blogging and this is the HBD side of the rewards which I converted the HBD to hive to spend in the Hive ecosystem. At the moment, it's usually for either Splinterlands or powering up for HPUD (Hive Power Up Day) but you never know when a new awesome game will be released on Hive so it's always good to have some extra money on the side. I don't plan on powering down anytime soon so I never really touched my staked hive power as I love being able to upvote and reward people for great content as well as getting rewarded for reading and upvoting great content.

I also had some DEC saved from being paid by my friend to play brawls for him. I can probably earn 10k-30k dec every brawl with the leftover DEC he gives me for renting cards on his accounts and playing for him. I also had to end up pulling some of my funds from my metamask wallet. I even ended up buying 100USDT from Houbi and changed it to BUSD on Binance and they moved it to pancakeswap. I swapped it on pancake swap the BUSD to DEC which I then transferred into the game. Lastly, I also used my Splinterlands scholarship from Balthazar to gather some DEC. This is basically how I got all the DEC to burn and now I'm super broke and have to save up again.

Concluding Thoughts

I am by no means a whale but I do hope one day I can be. I really did think I overspent on DEC but I don't regret it. I will just consider it DEC that I would've needed to use to upgrade on my guild in the future anyways and this event at least let's me have a chance to get back some rewards. As a guild leader I don't make my guildmates contribute DEC but it would be super helpful if they did. I'd appreciate it very much so I hope if you are a member of other guilds you can understand how the guild leaders feel if they don't make you contribute DEC. That's all from me until next time!

Today also happens to be Hive Power Up day for June and it was said in Traci's post that we could add it to the end of our post so here I go.

Oh, and a bit of a clarification as I haven't mentioned it for a minute - your Power Up Day post doesn't have to be just about your power up. You're welcome to just include a bit about it at the beginning/end of an unrelated post

There you go I powered up 15 Hive. This is something that I have been doing on and off but I'm going to start doing this consistently as I want to build up my hive power to have a great impact in the Hive ecosystem! I really recommend you all to also start participating in HPUD as well! I really want to hit my target of at least 2.5k Hive Power by end of this year.
