Just Don't Use Magic I Guess

Introduction

Happy Monday guys. February is about to end and there's a lot of exciting updates coming to Splinterlands in these coming two weeks. Anyways, this post will be for the battle mage secrets. The theme featured this week is Counterspell. For this ruleset, all units have the magic reflect ability. Amplify will increase this reflect damage by +1 for those that don't knwo

My Strategy & Tips for Counterspell

I'm not sure but I feel like we have done a battle mage secrets for this ruleset before but I don't remember what I said. For this ruleset, it would be best to avoid playing magic units and even worse you wouldn't want to play magic units with blast as you will take the reflection damage from even the blast damage. The only case you would ever consider playing a magic unit is if it had void or you had Immortalis as your summoner.

In this ruleset, I am ok with bringing up the Immortalis. It's one of my favorite plays to go for since it gives mind games to the opponent whether I will drop it or not since most of the time it's not favorable to play magic units. If Earth element is available, then the ideal choices would be the water element. You'd want to play Lux Vega, or Kelya and just play some opportunity or sneak lineup depending on the mana cap.

Another big tip is to play at least one unit with amplify. In the case, opponent does play magic with void at least they might be able to take 1 damage from the extra amplify. In addition to that, I would recommend mixing some return fire or thorns in as well since it will help counter against other types of damage. Usually any summoner that gives armor, manipulate melee damage , manipulate range damage are all good for this ruleset.

The Battle

The battle link can be found here. This battle was on my main account, ShawnNFT. This battle was in a brawl because that's the only thing I play by myself since I bot in wild. It was a 33 mana battle with the keep your distance, lost legendaries and counterspell ruleset. Only the dragon element was banned.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner , Jacek - I chose Jacek to focus a ranged lineup. Another great choice here would've been Yodin but I don't own one and it's pretty expensive to rent at max level.

First Position, Chaos Agent - Chaos Agent was my main tank. It's a super cheap tank that has the phase and dodge with decent speed to dodge some hits.

Second Position, Scavo Chemist - Scavo Chemist was my support unit. It would help cleanse my Chaos Agent from any poison. It also helped give my team the speed advantage while also reducing any ranged damage since there was a high chance the opponent would play ranged units with keep your distance and counterspell as the ruleset.

Third Position, Lava Launcher - Lava Launcher is great for this ruleset. It's probably one of the best and cheapest cards to use in a Jacek lineup. It can solo carry games with a good stun and it just has solid damage and armor.

Fourth Position, Ash Mirage - Ash Mirage was another unit to lower any ranged damage. This one was a bit underleveled. The one I have maxed is on my scholar account unfortunately.

Fifth Position, Supply Runner - This main purpose for this unit was to support my team. It gave +1 health and +1 speed to my whole team. It's definitely essential in Jacek's team usually combod with Countess Sinash but there's lost legendaries unfortunately.

Sixth Position, Sarius - This unit was my finisher. It's the gladius card and even though it's under leveled it still has pretty good stats and damage for the mana cost.

Analysis of The Battle

I pretty much dominated this battle. The opponent used an under leveled summoner. If that wasn't bad he picked a summoner that wasn't really useful for this ruleset since there's no melee units to buff in this ruleset. He also played magic which was really dumb since his 2 magic units basically killed themselves. I also had a crazy speed advantage so he pretty much didn't really get a chance to attack since his units already died.

I feel I had a pretty solid lineup. It would've probably been more ideal or safer to play a higher level Ash Mirage though. Besides that, I'm quite satisfied with my lineup. I just wish some brawlers played properly. I feel these players aren't so serious but it is what it is.

Do I Like Counterspell ruleset?

I feel Counterspell is a great ruleset. It will force magic spammers to play something else unless they want to run it down with Immortalis which still makes magic decent but in most cases nobody would play magic units in this ruleset unless it had reflection shield or void.

Thank You

If you made it here, thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. I appreciate the support and I hope you learned something new! I think last time I shared a battle mage secrets for this, it was me showcasing Immortalis so I decided to show another strategy. What did you think of my strategy?
