My Early Days of Splinterlands

Introduction
Last week, I covered the rebellion regular foil market. This week I want to share my early experience in Splinterlands so beginners don't make the same mistake.

Early Experience with Splinterlands
Back in the day, Splinterlands was one of the top web3 games for daily active users if not wrong. This has changed a lot now since there has been a purge of bots from the ecosystem. We still have bots but it's not as crazy as before. Anyways I found this game searching for "play to earn" games and it seemed interesting because I love card games. I played Yu-gi-oh , Hearthstone, and Magic the gathering before so this was right up my alley.
I remember buying a spellbook with paypal because I wasn't really familiar with crypto at that time. Honestly, playing the game was kind of rough. The bots back then in bronze were super strong and honestly I kind of wanted to quit. In the end though, I didn't end up quitting I would just play daily for the 3-5 wins I forgot for one chest. I remember pulling a legendary reward card and was quite happy since these cards were valuable at the time.
Honestly, it was also very complicated understanding the whole hive ecosystem of what active, posting key and all the different keys do. It was a bit overwhelming but once you understand everythign it's actually not too bad.
I didn't really get invested into Splinterlands until I started my scholarship with Balthazar. This gave me funds to buy cards and packs to grow my account. It also let me get to try out cards and get better at the game. Once you start to get better at the game it becomes more enjoyable and less frustrating.
One of the things I wish I started earlier was probably my blogging. To be honest, I was kind of scared because I didn't know if people would even bother reading my content. In the end, I did end up starting after being convinced by some fellow Splinterland players. Blogging was something that I could've done for free since purchasing a spellbook gave me a hive account. I could've used this hive account to participate in Splinterlands writing contests and also get additional funds here to grow my Splinterlands account.
Another breaking point was joining the Splinterlands and joining a guild. The guild allowed me to earn more and I was able to also grow my gladius cards. In addition to that, I got a lot of help understanding hive and get better at the game with the sharing of strategy among members.
It's been a long ride if not wrong a bit over two years in Splinterlands. It's been fun and I made a lot of friends and even though it's not a triple A game I find this game to be super simple yet complex and fun. Best part of all is there's digital ownership of what I have so I could sell everything if I stopped playing and all that time I spent on this game would have value beyond just the entertainment. Thinking about all the time I spent on League of Legends and spending money on skins and not getting anything back makes me sad. I wish i put all those money on skins when I was a kid into Splinterlands or crypto haha but oh well that's the past.

Key Takeaways
I believe through my experience there are some key takeaways for beginners in Splinterlands.
- If you don't want to commit to spending money on Splinterlands, you should consider starting with a scholarship and see if you like the game.
- Blogging should not be overlooked and you shouldn't be afraid to blog about Splinterlands and participate in their contests.
- Be part of the community (join discord) and make friends; Join a guild get familiar with people and naturally you will enjoy the game more.

You have given some good advice in this post. I regret that I started playing a bit late( July 2019) and that I was not as active as I should have been. Had I joined sooner perhaps I would have won something like golden VALNAMOR or CORRUPTED PEGASUS...
Who knows how much they would be worth. But even after joining late the game has been generous to me. Especially considering that I only invested hive into the game and not normal currency.O.O omg i wish i could have started in 2019 lol that wouldve been a great entry point for crypto. its like right before the pumping. if u went in that time u wouldve been huge. what about blogging? did u start in 2019
blogging I started in 2017.
DUDE if u started in 2017 thats means splinteralnds was gifted to u. u couldve been super og. and be sponsring me lol
I know... imagine buying alpha and beta packs when the price was still reasonable... it is sad that I was so slow.
