The Fantastic Four

Introduction

I had a pretty great weekend. I had hotpot on Saturday. I watched KongxGodzilla on Sunday and the movie was pretty disappointing. I would highly recommend not spending the money to watch this at the cinema; it will be way better to watch this at home when it comes out on netflix etc. As usual, I will be sharing my battle mage secrets. Last week for battle mage secrets, I shared about my strategy and tips for Explosive Weaponry ruleset. The theme for this week is Fab Four. In this ruleset, each player can only use up to four units.

My Strategy & Tips for Fab Four

Fab Four is still a fairly new ruleset. Personally, I haven't found any specific strategy that can be spammed with this ruleset as this ruleset doesn't really place much restrictions on the units that can be used but rather the number of units. This ruleset will mostly depend on the other rulesets available. There is one possible strategy but I can't really vouch for it since I personally haven't used it. I feel like one strategy at the moment that could be strong is a Lilyshieldpaw and Grimbardun Smith lineup with support. Since there's only four units, there's a high chance that there's not enough damage to get through the Grimsmith. Especially in the lower to mid mana battles nobody really use Jacek either. This will change though once the new airdrop card comes in which is in 20ish more days.

I do have some tips for this ruleset though. In this ruleset, you really want to choose the best value units. Since you are limited to the amount of units, it's best to pick units that have great value for the manacap. For example, Dr Blight in most cases would be great for low-mid mana since it's a super great 4 mana unit. In a 99 mana ruleset, you will most likely want to find the best high mana units like Arkemis the Bear and Chaos Dragon for example.

The Battle

The battle link can be found here. I had this battle my scholar account, Bltzr-wizard-727. This battle was played today so my memory of it is fresh. The ruleset for this battle was Counterspell, Fab Four and Little League. The mana cap was 23 and only the death element was banned.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner , Kelya - I chose Kelya because it has good low mana units and I thought it would do well in this ruleset with the counterspell so I wasn't worried that much about magic.

First Position, Cruel Sethropod - Cruel Sethropod is a great unit for the ruleset. I chose it particularly for the armor. My main concern was having it tank as much melee/range damage as possible.

Second Position, Tide Bider - This is another solid unit for this circumstance. I love how this unit doesn't miss and it can block any blast damage if needed.

Third Position, Uraeus - Uraeus was one of my carries. It's main purpose was to kill the backline of the opponent.

Fourth Position, Pelacor Bandit - Pelacor Bandit was placed in the back to help dodge sneak attacks. This unit has great speed and flying so it's a great backline to fend of sneak attacks. It also works well together with Uraeus.

Analysis of The Battle

It seems like the opponent had a similar idea in terms of strategy. We had all the same units except he opted for Dr Blight instead of Uraeus. I'm not sure if they were aware that their was counterspell. I think he thought the scavange would just help keep it alive. This was probably a huge mistake because if you watch the battle, his pelacor bandit couldn't kill any of my backline alone. I also did get a lucky poison on the first turn and my Uraeus didn't miss so it's hard to say. I think I could've still lost this game to RNG though so thankfully RNG was on my side.

Thank You

If you made it here, thank you so much for reading all the way to the end. I appreciate the support and I hope you learned something new! I'm curious what are your strategies for Fab Four because I don't have any strategies to spam so if you know some I would love to hear them.
