Introduction

Last week, I shared my thoughts on Kei which is the next conflict airdrop for the social media challenge. Today, I'm going to be covering my thoughts on the most recent townhall on February 29. I will cover my thoughts on the new rulesets, the new ranked rework, and the purchasing energy updates.

New Ruleset Fabfour and FiveAlive

I've already gotten to experience playing these ruleset with my scholar account. I'm loving the new rulesets. Fabfour only allows max of 4 units to be played while Fivealive allows only max of 5 units to be played. It's definitely made a huge change to battles since this ruleset will need many battles before people start figuring out the best lineups. It will take some bots time to adapt to these changes so human players can enjoy the advantage for a while. I'll be interested to play these rulesets in the next brawl. I wonder what you think of these rulesets. Do you like them? Do share down in the comments below.

Ranked Rework It's Finally Here

Personally, I am loving the ranked rework. I see kind of mixed feelings in the discord. I see some people that only own bronze/silver decks kind of unhappy and want to sell out because they are getting bashed by max level cards. Then I saw Schnapoon post about wanting to quit because of the silver league being removed. Then people with maxed decks that were botting are happily returning to manual play and playing in modern grinding their way back up.

I feel there was no way this change was going to please everybody. I feel overall though the system is just better. It didn't make sense to have leaderboards midway where people would in a way get gatekeeped by leaderboard players. It didn't make sense to reduce rewards either for lower leveled cards. I did mention it before like if people have a level 1 fiend it should be good enough since there isn't much difference until it's maxed out. I genuinely think this was the right move for Splinterlands.

We can already see some of the outcomes of this change. There are people starting to buy cards to level up and there are people even renting more which will bring up rental prices. As people are going up in rating, they also want to get more SPS for SPS staking to keep their multiplier at a healthy level which leads to SPS price increasing as well.

All in all, it's still too early to say but from what I've seen in the past few days, it seems like a good change and I feel that we heading towards the right direction to getting more players into Splinterlands.

Purchasing Energy Updates

There's actually a whole chart from the tech update release notes if you want to check that out. With the new ranked system change, it seems like the team has changed the cost to each rating range for the energy cost. In addition to that, they have added vouchers as a way to buy energy with vouchers being equivalent to 100 dec value. In the picture below, it shows the amount of vouchers it cost to buy at each league. I think this change has given another utility to vouchers and it's no surprise that vouchers were being bought off the market like crazy since the first few days of the ranked rework high diamond and champ players were getting over 40SPS per win so it was super profitable to buy energy with vouchers. Rewards have decreased since then but I think it's still worth it to buy energy with vouchers provided you can win the battles.

I don't like the new rulesets. Its just making grimbardum smith more spamable while limiting the number of cards that can deal enough damage to defeat it and the ruleset icons seems uninspired in contrast to the other ruleset icons .

haha don't be like that. that's not the rulesets fault. just wait until we have some cards that counter grimbardun smith i guess. the only way ; ; or if we cant beat them we need to join them but its kinda expsensive. i was tempted but i feel like price of grimbardun will go down once it cycles out

Might have a different impression if it was made pre- rebellion but instead was only added now knowing how smith was dominating the meta. Seems very easy ruleset to implement compared to the previous rulesets that was added to the game.

hmmm i think ya it was easy to implement these but it's ok. I'm ok with more rulesets at least we can see a few more diff strategies. they can addt hese to the battle mage secrets we already repeating i think for that one . and we do get some advantage since bots dont have the data for these new rulesets in first few days so i think its ok . they will add better ones later on but sometimes simple ones out first just get them out to stir the game a bit is good
