My Newest Death Splinter Card

  • I like reading the lore for each of the Splinterlands summoner and monster cards. It feels like a good amount of thought was put into all these characters, like I’m reading puzzle pieces of a movie trailer for an all-encompassing film set to premiere in the future.

  • After reviewing my most recent defeats, I’ve come to the conclusion that most of my missed victories were against Water Splinter and Fire Splinter, specifically Arlic and Malric.

And while a good amount of Magic attackers paired with Dragon Splinter’s Dragonscale might be able to take down a strong Fire team, when it came to using a purely Death Splinter based team against Arlic I was less often to find victory.

Arlic’s magic boost is very similar to Delwyn Dragonscale’s but it comes from the same Splinter as the monsters it powers up. Death Splinter summoners Zintar and Contesse only affect melee and range stats, unlike Water Splinter’s Bortus who, opposite of Arlic, weakens magic stats.

  • After much thinking I decided to go against my last post’s advice and thought who would be useful against magic AND looks super cool? Because function isn’t everything. Gaming, like life and the Internet, can be primarily visual. And looking at abilities, lore, and some cartoonishly cool Splinterlands art — I settled on the Dark Lord’s eyes and ears on Mount Mox:

    (Owster Rotwell)

  • Owster gives all ally monsters the Magic Reflect ability:

  • This will prove very useful as I’ve seen with other players that Owster’s Magic Reflect ability activates even if a magic attack depletes all of a monster’s life, sending back reduced magic damage just before the monster dies and their card leaves the battle.

  • Can’t wait to try this summoner out in Splinterlands practice mode.

  • Here’s his lore:
