WOO - Roman Reigns had Dog Food Poured on Him: From Big Dog to Tribal Chief

Greetings to everyone on Hive and the Wrestling World.

It's time for some interesting wrestling storytelling. I'm going to share with a you one of the weirdest moments in WWE storylines which didn't end as well as the organization had planned but could have been the greatest cause for the change of a Wrestler's entire life.

Over three years back before the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns became champion and Tribal Chief, he was known as the Big Dog Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns was not always the top guy with an undefeated streak. Before he got so great, he was at a point where the industry virtually controlled every single word he had to said in the ring and in promo shows.

At that time, the WWE universe and fans didn't really like for Roman to become the top dog and face of the company. They preferred the likes of Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan.

Roman Reigns played a face or hero character but everyone including Roman himself knew that it wasn't really working out as he had hoped.

Infact years ago, when he won the men's Royal Rumble to face Brock Lesnar for the first time, the fans hated it.

They didn't want Roman to win. Some loved him then though including myself but most people still weren't exactly feeling Roman Reigns as the main champion.

However, the interesting thing was that Roman Reigns was only playing the parts that the company gave him, saying the words in the script.

Roman himself sometimes had difficulties following the script and wasn't too much of a professional with the microphone like John Cena.

In Roman's first encounter with John Cena in a promo, John Cena the GOAT completely killed Roman with the mic and said something to Roman he'll probably never forget.

Cena told Roman;

• It's called a promo kid, you're going to have to learn how to do it if you want to be the Big Dog

The crowd laughed at that however Roman tried his best and probably learned his lesson.

In every match Roman has had with John Cena, he beat Cena and that's no surprise there. Roman is obviously stronger, tougher and better at wrestling than John Cena.

Now as years went by with Mr McMahon trying his best to turn Roman Reigns into the next John Cena of the modern Era, Roman finally snapped and decided that he was no longer going to do things the Cooperation's way.

There was a moment where in a match with Baren Corbin and Dolph Ziggler, Roman had dog food poured all over him. This was entirely part of the storyline he was told to play in.

Dolph and Corbin tied Roman Reigns to a pole and poured dog food all over his face in a way to mock him since he had the nickname "Big Dog". Well it kinda looked like dark humor and could have been a great idea but the fans didn't like it at all.

Alot of people showed their displeasure to the scene with "Boooo" chants.

I believe that could have been part of Roman's breaking point. He was done doing things Mr McMahon's way and wanted to be himself and bring out his true personality in the ring.

That decision of changing from Big Dog to Tribal Chief was taken prior to his comeback or return in late 2019 after dealing with Leukemia.

Roman took a completely different turn from Hero to Villain, from Face to Heel but however still maintained his culture of being a Samoan.

From then on he became the Universal champion with Paul Heyman as his manager and formed the Bloodline faction.

He's now the longest reigning champion in the past 35 years of WWE and is set to probably break Hulk Hogan's championship reign of 1400 plus days.

If he keeps the title till September of 2024, he'll definitely break that record and that would be a glorious celebration.

I guess that ends today's blog guys. I think that the decision Roman took completely changed his life and the company. He achieved more, earned more and has becoming more popular and loved by fans all over the world.

At least he doesn't have to do everything the company's way anymore. He can now be himself, the real Roman Reigns, Tribal Chief of the Samoan Bloodline.
