WOO - The Art of Game Design: Creating an Immersive Gaming Experience
Greetings to my favourite community for sharing my game thoughts, WOO. It's @skyehi and I'm back one more time for the gamers.
Wrestling Organization Online's development and my anticipation of the release date kinda inspired me to start thinking about game development companies like EA Sports and Rockstar Games. They have successfully released some of the all time great games. They must be doing something right I suppose 🤔.
In today's blog post I'll be sharing some few tips in creating immersive gaming experiences. This is merely a suggestion out of love for the entire WOo community and all my fellow gaming enthusiasts.

So the main question we can ask ourselves is; What Makes A Great Game? 🤔🤔
When you pick up your well specked video game controller, have you ever wondered why some games keep you glued to the screen for hours, while others fail to hold your interest for more than a few minutes?
I remember the time when I still had my Xbox 360 with me. I would sit behind my game chair and play GTA 4 for literally the whole day. I only took washroom and snack breaks and then back to work 😂.
I was too busy to talk to anyone in that house and they all knew when your boy's behind that console you better not interrupt his mediation 😂
Now the secret to why we enjoy some games more than others lies in the art of game design.
I'll admit, being able to create an engaging gaming experience is no simple task. It takes some game development companies years to be able to release a next version of a game.
Take for example the very anticipated Rockstar Game GTA 6 which will be released next year 2024. It took them close to a decade after the release of GTA 5 just to announce the release of GTA 6.
When you observe the game and the development story behind it, you can realize the amount of work put into it.
From the game graphics, to the story lines and the sound engineering, everything took a lot of work. Don't even get me started on the funds to build such a compelling game.
Lets explore how game designers or developers craft these captivating worlds that keep us coming back for more.

A Compelling Story
One reason I love GTA so much is the storylines they add to the game. Different mission, each one better and more interesting than the last.
Great and successful games often begin with a captivating narrative. Sometimes based on a movie, a popular character or even an interesting game concept.
But whether it's the epic saga of a hero's journey or the mystery of a crime to solve, a strong story can draw players into the game's universe and keep them in that universe like prison or jail time.
A well-told story creates a lot of emotional connections to the game. No wonder games like Need For Speed rank Higher than another puzzle without any unique story twist to it.
By creating a good story for the game, it makes the players care about the game characters and thier objective or mission as players.
Let's be honest when you start a GTA game as a broke character with problems, just as human nature always wants to rise to success, it gives this purpose in the players to move up mission after mission to succeed.
What I'm trying to say is that in developing games you need to create a good story that gives the players a good enough reason to finish the game and gain some type of satisfaction.

A Well Balanced Gameplay
Ever tried playing a game that was way too hard to complete. For me personally I don't give up on my goals and dreams in life but trust me man when a game gets too hard I just ditch it like a bad habit 😂
A good game design is all about balance.
A game should be challenging but not frustrating, there's a difference 😂.
The game should be designed to gradually increase in difficulty level after level to keep players engaged and to keep them interested in what comes after their current mission.
Trying to achieve this perfect game balance is an art in itself. To be a successful game developer you need to think like a gamer first.
Understand what keeps the gamers hooked to the game and implement that in your gane designs and they'll love you for it.

Intuitive Controls
Now one other thing that makes some games suck is that very difficult learning curve. Ever attempted to play a new game and for days you still don't understand how to game control works.
I quite remember trying to play this Transformers game on my old XBOX 360. Trust me man I loved the first Transformers movie "Well mainly because of Megan Fox(Confession Time 🙈)" and so when I got the game I was supper excited.
The horrible thing was that I spent days just trying to know how to shoot the weapons. It was super complicated. Although I loved the story line, I could never even get to half of the missions. It was a total buzz kill😩
Nobody wants to spend hours learning complicated controls.
Intuitive, obvious and responsive controls are very essential for an enjoyable gaming experience. They should feel like a natural extension of the player's intentions. Players are usually able to even guess the controls for their actions. Now that's what I'll call a good game design.

Visual and Audio Excellence
It sucks to play a bad graphics game. This ain't 1988 no more 😂. We know the difference between Mario and FIFA 23😂. No offence to Mario fans though, it is a pretty good game anyways.
But my point is that stunning visuals and a compelling soundtrack can elevate a game from good to exceptional. The reason is that nowadays there are a lot of game development companies and each company has lots of great games.
If your intention is to be among the rest then a normal regular game graphics is fine but if you want to stand out then you gotta do what Rockstar is doing with their GTA 6.
Did you get the chance to see the graphics during the game unveiling and debut. My gosh what a game. 🤩 I really can't wait to get my hands on it.
Now these elements create the perfect game atmosphere, entice emotions, and immerse players in the game world. That's basically how games manage to get me behind my console for hours.

Rewards
When a game is rewarding, it becomes worth more than just fun. The GTA game series and even Asphalt or NFS managed to pull this off by creating this emotional feeling of accomplishment and acquisitions.
Everybody wants to drive flashy cars and own huge mansion which is what excites GTA gamers.
When players accomplish something, they should receive feedback and rewards to keep them motivated. These can be in the form of points, upgrades, or even a simple "Well done!"
When you finish a racing game for example, you get to win awesome game items and even new cars. There should be rewards even if it's not real money.
What would be really sad is when you complete a difficult mission and all you see is next level without any congratulations. Infant add a confetti if you can😂 anything to excite your players.
This is why I believe P2E games like Terracore,. Splinterlands, Wrestling Organization Online and Rising Star are pretty great games with huge potential to get bigger as Hive grows. You literally earn real money for succeeding.
I still hope WOO will keep developing cool P2E games.

Continuous Update
One very important thing to do as a game developer is to listen to the opinions of your gamers.
Create a feedback feature for them to share their feedbacks. You can also create beta versions before game release to know how to further improve your game.
The ongoing updates can keep players engaged over the long term. Trust me, that's the reason why we still have GTA fans, each new version is better than the last.
That being said, which is better GTA Auto San Andreas or GTA Auto 4🤔 I would love to hear your answers in the comments section guys😂

Good Social Interaction
Wanna know why we love multiplayer games so much?
It's the chance to interact with our fellow gamers and friends. Gamers interacting with each other through the game creates an even deeper connection and attachment to the game.
Some gamers grew up playing a game like Fortnite and they still play it because that's their fun time with friends.

Well that's all for now folks. I'm super happy I was able to share this brief blog with everyone. I hope you were both entertained and informed.
As always if you have any questions or comment regarding my blog post, feel free to fire it up in the comments section and I'll be glad to respond guys.
I would like to thank Bookerman and his cofounder and developers for such a great game as WOO. Simply can't wait for release day.
Have a lovely day and catch you next time on Wrestling Organization Online. Bye guys❤️
