WOO - WWE HALL OF FAME: The Rock Receives The People’s Championship From Muhammad Ali’s Wife
Greetings to everyone and welcome to Wrestling Organization Online, WOO.
Today's the big day guys; WrestleMania XL night 1.
This means yesterday was the Hall of Fame.
Dwayne Johnson, The Rock and AkA, The Final Boss gets a special award from the wife of Muhammad Ali, Lonnie. He got Muhammad Ali's belt, the People's Championship.
It really touched me in the bottom of my heart and so I could not help but give my thoughts about it.
First and foremost, let me tell you that The Rock is my number one wrestler all the time. I have followed him since childhood and for me he has always been the People's Champion.
Therefore, when I learnt that he received a unique belt from Muhammad Ali’s wife, I was so thrilled!
It is unbelievable to think that over two decades ago, in 1998 to be specific, The Rock asked Muhammad Ali for permission to use “The People’s Champion” moniker.
That tells us how much he honors his predecessors who are legends in the field. Besides, seeing him being honored with the People’s Championship belt is just mind-blowing.
The Rock must have been so overwhelmed by the profundity of The Rock’s gift. Muhammad Ali was more than a boxer, he was a global icon.
To me it shows that this is an excellent tribute to both their histories when his wife and Lonnie presents The Rock with this championship.
Adding on to the significance of the moment is another fact that The Undertaker did officially induct Muhammad Ali to the WWE Hall of Fame.
This is like two worlds coming together where two worlds collide—the world of wrestling and boxing coming together to honor one of the greatest sportsmen in history.
There are certain things about this story that I find fascinating however; such as how much respect & adoration does Dwayne Johnson have for Muhammad Ali?
You could see that he really admires him and appreciates his legacy as well. Therefore, It has so much meaning attached to it when she recognized it & presented him with this championship.
In all, I’d say this moment is a reminder of the power of sports to unite people and celebrate those who have come before.
In terms of respect, admiration, legacy, it’s an example of beauty; as such, I feel privileged to have witnessed it.
Here’s to Dwayne Johnson known as The Rock and Muhammad Ali who has been rightly christened the greatest boxer ever. May they live on forever in history.
