Splinterlands social media challenge!

Hello guys, I'm back on hive after a week I think. I had to take some days off because I was burnt out. I'm still feeling it but I didn't want to end this month like that so I decided to participate this week. I have been catching up with some of the content I missed last week so far. I still haven't finished reading most of them. Anyway, enough with my rambling xd. Here is my entry for this week :)

I looked for some pose on Pinterest and found a cool pose from Vegeta. It sort looks like the same pose from the official design but the viewing angle is different so I decided to make a rough sketch anyway. Once I was done with the rough sketch I made a clean lineart in my Ibis paint app. I needed to fix some of the anatomy issues of his face. His face shape is quite different and the reference image only shows the side so it was a bit difficult to draw it. I finalized the design after some experiments and began painting the base colours.

I decided that the flame on his head be be primary light source so I shaded his body accordingly in respect to the direction of that light. I played with the tone curve a bit to control the contrast here. It's a pretty useful tool which I came to know about after watching a YouTube video from rossdraws. The curve is pretty convenient when you draw on a single layer. Try it out when you paint guys. I'm sure it will be useful in the future.

After finishing his body I painted his clothes and other accessories next. I also shaded them according to the direction of source light even though there are 3 other light sources in there. It will be very tough to paint them in respect to all four and that's why I selected the fire on his head to be the primary one. Now if you observe the painting I didn't draw the fire four time here instead I duplicated the head fire 4 times, made changes to shape and size and fitted them in other parts of the body. No need to extra work here. Work smart not hard ,right hehe?

So the next part which is the final part was to create the background. I used dark red as the main colour for the background since it will look with the flame glow. I also duplicated the main artwork and used that in overlay mode with gaussian blur in the background. I decided to paint other effects like fire particles and subtle smoky wind effect in there as well. After that I fixed some mistakes and adjusted the contrast again for the lighting condition. The painting was finally done after that. I hope you guys enjoyed the process and hopefully I'll be back with a new one very soon.

I recently hit 1000hp and this was one of my achievements this year. I thought I won't be able to reach it considering the frequency of my post but staying consistent last month helped me reach it. Thank you all for your love and support so far :)

Art block and burnout it is~ When you draw almost every day, your creativity decreases. I am amazed at how other artists managed to do it. Props to them!

Anyway, you always nail the fire 😍 Absolutely amazing on this one!
