Going to Distance Rule in Battlefield

Hello everyone, welcome to another post about Splinterlands. Today will be a post about battle rules and this week's rule will be Going to Distance, you will certainly want to have a lot of ranged monsters in your collection when this rule is in battle.

What is the Going to Distance rule?

The Going to Distance rule will make the only monsters allowed in battle are those that have ranged attack, if you have a monster that has 2 types of attack as long as one of them is ranged then it will also be allowed in battle.

In this rule you will need to set up a good strategy because ranged monsters have a big disadvantage which is that they cannot attack in the first position, this means that the position in which you select the monsters will be of great importance since most will be useless when you reach the first position. position, but there is an ability called Close Range that will allow the ranged monster to attack in the first position and this ability will probably be your greatest ally in this battle.

The amount of ranged monsters that have the Close Range is limited and in the Going to Distance rule these monsters will defend in the front line since they can attack in the first position so they will continue to be useful in the attack.

There is also another great option which is the summoner Fernheart from the earth deck, it will increase your life by +1 and also give the Close Range ability to all your monsters.

To better explain how the Going to Distance rule works in battle and also to show the type of strategy I use I will use a battle as an example.

BATTLE

In this battle there are 2 rules, the first is Rebirth and in this rule all monsters will be able to resurrect after being defeated and will return to the battle with 1 life. The second rule is the Goint to Distance rule I mentioned before and it will only allow ranged attack monsters into battle.

Watch the Battle

My strategy is very simple, I have 26 mana available so I have to be a little careful with the cards I use since the mana is not very high.

0 - My first choice was the summoner and I chose Ilthain, she will be of great help in battle because she will increase the speed of all my monsters by +1 and also grant the Return Fire ability to them.

The Return Fire ability is perfect for this battle because all monsters have ranged attack and whenever a ranged attack attacks a monster with the Return Fire ability it will take part of the damage done back.

1 - The monster I selected in the first position was Gargoya Devil, he is a ranged monster that has the Close Range ability and that means he is able to attack in the first position, in addition he also has the Flying ability that will increase the chances of him dodging melee and ranged attacks against monsters that don't have Flying ability by +25% so he will be a great defense for the battle.

2 - The monster I selected in the second position was Xenith Archer, it doesn't have any ability and its attack is low but its mana cost is low so it's a good choice for this type of battle.

3 - The monster I selected in the third position was Silvershield Archers, it also has a low attack and a low mana cost but unlike Xenith archer it has the Snipe ability and it will be very useful to attack my opponent's backline monsters .

4 - The monster I selected in the fourth position was Venari Crystalsmith, it has the Tank Heal ability and that means that it will heal my monster positioned in the first position every round.

5 - The monster I selected in the fifth and last position was the Pelacor Arbalest, it will be my main source of damage in the battle but it will also be an easy target to defeat because its health is low.

Now my strategy is ready, I have a good counter with the Return Fire ability, a good defense like Gargoya Devil, a good support like Venari Crystalsmith and also great monsters to deal damage.

The battle wasn't easy at all because my opponent also had great cards, especially his monster positioned in the first position that dodged most of my attacks so it was very difficult to defeat him but as soon as my opponent's monster that was positioned in the first position was defeated (2x because of the rebirth rule) the battle became easy and I managed to achieve victory.
