Healing to Victory - Splinterlands Battle

Healing abilities and a good card combination may seem like a simple strategy but in Splinterlands it will give you many victories. In this post I'm going to show a combination that I discovered recently that besides giving me victory in battles is also really fun to watch and see my opponent try to break my defense.

The combination as mentioned before is based on healing abilities and trust me you will see a lot of healing in the battle that I will show you shortly.

To use this combination you will need 4 main cards which are Sea Monster, Mermaid Healer, Spirit Hoarder and Coeurl Lurker. These are the 4 cards that will make the combination work and they are essential for the strategy, you will still have 2 free cards to further refine the strategy.

To understand how the strategy works I will explain the function of each card and I will start with the Sea Monster.

Sea Monster

The Sea Monster is a common reward edition card that belongs to the water deck, it has only one function which is to be the frontline defense, you will understand better when you see the battle but the Sea Monster is very important in the battle and the reason I chose him because he has a lot of life, a powerful attack and mainly because of his ability Heal that will make him restore part of your health every round.

Mermaid Healer

The Mermaird Healer is an epic card from the promo edition that belongs to the water deck, its function will be as a support and depending on the level you use it it will have attack or not, but its attack is low so it will only be an additional one for the strategy, the main reason for choosing it is because of its ability Triage which will heal the backline card that took the most damage in battle.

Spirit Hoarder

The Spirit Hoarder is a legendary card from the chaos legion edition that belongs to the neutral deck, its function will be the same as the Mermaid Healer, that means that it will act as a support and its attack will also be just an additional one for the battle, it also has the ability Triage that will heal the backline card that took the most damage.

Coeurl Lurker

Coeurl Lurker is a legendary card from the riftwatchers edition that belongs to the neutral deck, its function will be as the main defense of the strategy because it will be the card that will receive the most attacks from the opponent because of the ability Taunt. Coeurl Lurker also has the ability Dodge which will increase his chances of dodging melee and ranged attacks by +25%.

Now that you know the functions of each card I will explain how each one will fit in the battle and I will also show the strategy in practice through a battle.

Strategy

The strategy is not very difficult to understand and as I mentioned before it will have these 4 cards acting as the main ones. Sea Monster will be the frontline defense and it will be useful because the only card that will not attack Coeurl Lurker is the opponent's card that is positioned in the first position so Sea Monster will receive its attack and the ability Heal will serve to that he can restore his life and not be defeated easily, in short he will only face 1 card at a time so he will not receive much damage.

The Mermaid Healer and the Spirit Hoarder will be the supports of the battles and their function will be to heal the Coeurl Lurker since he will receive most of the attacks, so he will need to receive healing to continue with his role in the battle.

Coeurl Lurker will be the main defense that will take the most hits, and with the help of Mermaid Healer, Spirit Hoarder, and its ability Dodge, it won't be taken down easily.

BATTLE

Now I will show in practice how the strategy works in the battle, remembering that the rule also makes a big difference and for this battle, luck is on my side.

In this battle I had 34 mana available and the Equal Opportunity rule.

As I mentioned before I was lucky to have this rule in the battle because it gives more utility to Coeurl Lurker since in the standard strategy he would not be able to attack since he is a melee card, but with this rule he gains the ability Opportunity which makes with it being able to attack in any position and will attack the opponent's card with the lowest health. Since his attack is pretty high then it's a great way to make this strategy even more powerful.

Despite having 34 mana available I couldn't have 6 cards in battle since I used many high mana cards, in addition to the standard strategy I also used the summoner Lir Deepswimmer which in my opinion combines very well with this strategy since it will give +1 shield to all my cards, the ability Return Fire and the Blind.

The ability Return Fire will make my opponent's ranged cards take part of the damage back when they attack, the ability Blind will increase the chances of my cards dodging by +15% so it will be very useful for Coeurl Lurker.

  • The battle started and my strategy was working well, Coeurl Lurker dodged some attacks and the damage he received was restored by the healing abilities of Mermaid Healer and Spirit Hoarder, in addition my opponent had 1 ranged card that was taking damage from ability Return Fire whenever it attacked.

  • The only part of my strategy that didn't go well at first was the Stun that Coeurl Lurker was receiving and that made him not able to attack for a few rounds because my opponent was always lucky to stun him every round, but that came to an end when I defeated his Revealer.

  • After long rounds with Coeurl Lurker taking damage and recovering life, my opponent's Revealer was defeated and finally the strategy got stronger since Coeurl Lurker was attacking and now the rounds became shorter and my opponent's cards were being easily defeated one after another until victory was finally achieved.
