Increasing debuffs on remaining options

Hello everyone, welcome to another post of mine about Splinterlands. Today I will talk about battle rules and this week's rule will be Broken Arrows, in this post I will talk about which strategy I use when this rule is on the battlefield and what it means.

What is the Broken Arrows rule?

Broken Arrows is a rule that does not allow any of the players in the battle to use ranged cards, this means that only cards with magic attack, melee and no attack will be allowed in battles.

I'm not a big fan of ranged cards because they have the disadvantage of not being able to attack in first position so whenever I think of using a ranged card I have to take that into account and that's why I place them as far away from first position as possible . Even though I'm not a big fan I still find them incredibly useful because they usually have a lot of attack and great abilities, but picking them up won't be an option when the Broken Arrows rule exists.

As I only have 3 options which are cards with magic attack, melee and no attack I need to think of a good strategy because cards without attack are useful but don't do damage and most melee cards can attack only in the first position, so I have to keep all this in mind to choose the best cards for battle.

Cards with magic attack are usually my main choice, especially when the water deck is available because in it I can use the summoner Alric Stormbringer to increase my magic attack and also because this deck has a wide variety of magic cards to use. But I won't always have the water deck available so I have to evaluate my options well, so I tried using the fire deck which is full of powerful melee cards that have abilities like Sneak and Opportunity, so the position doesn't it will be a problem for them to attack.

As I choose the fire deck and my main focus is on melee cards so my best option would be to choose the summoner Tarsa or Malric Inferno to increase the melee attack of my cards, as I had 30 mana available so I used Tarsa already that the difference was only 1 mana and it would also increase the health of all my cards by +1.

The fire deck doesn't have many cards with magic attack and most had a high mana cost, so I decided to build my strategy using only melee cards, with the exception of Goblin Shaman which is a card with magic attack with low mana cost and which I find very useful since it reduces the life of my opponent's cards with its Weaken ability.

In addition to the Goblin Shaman debuff, I also used Molten Ogre which reduces the melee attack of my opponent's cards with the Demoralize ability.

After all the debuffs are active, my opponent's cards suffered big losses in their attacks and lives, now they will deal less damage and will also be easier to defeat since they have less health.

My strategy is simple, I have Molten Ogre as my tank in the battle and he will do his job well since he has a lot of life, I have Radiated Brute as my second defense, Kobold Miner and Serpentine Spy that will have the function to attack my opponent's backline, the Goblin Shaman and finally the Antoid Platoon that won't attack but will be an excellent defense against melee cards that have the ability Sneak.

  • The battle started and everything was going exactly as I planned, with the exception of my opponent's Serpentine Spy which was a problem as he will attack my lowest health card, unfortunately he attacked first and defeated my Serpentine Spy so he already suffered a big loss in the battle, even so I still had a good defense and a good attack left so it wasn't a big problem to have lost this card right at the beginning.

  • Choosing Molten Ogre was an excellent choice because it reduced the melee attack of my opponent's cards and this meant that they practically did not damage my Antoid Platoon which was receiving most of the attacks since my opponent had many cards with the ability Sneak.

  • My defense was solid and my offense powerful so it didn't take long before my opponent started taking casualties on the battlefield. Most of their cards had low health so it was easy to defeat them after their main defenses went down and it didn't last long until I finally achieved victory.

Although I really like using cards with magic attack when the Broken Arrows rule is in battle, I also really liked this strategy because I limited my opponent's attack, so it's always good to have more options to choose from.
