The Power of the Water Deck

Hello everyone, welcome to another post about Splinterlands. In this post I will focus on the water deck which is my favorite deck in the game. I really like using cards with a magic attack since they can attack in any position and also ignore the shield of the opponent's cards and cause damage directly to their life and the water deck is perfect for those who like this type of card since it it has the summoner Alric Stormbringer that grants +1 of magic attack for its cards and also because in this deck there are several cards with magic attack that are powerful and excellent to be used in the battlefield.

For those new to Splinterlands then I'll give you a quick explanation of what a deck is.

In splinterlands there are 7 decks in total, they are: Water, Fire, Earth, Death, Life, Dragon and Neutral. The decks of water, fire, earth, life and death are unique decks and that means that if you choose a summoner from this deck you will only be able to use cards from the chosen deck and from the neutral deck (the neutral deck can be used together with all the others decks, it's like a sub deck in the game).

The dragon deck and the neutral deck have a different feature from the other decks I mentioned, if you select a summoner from the dragon deck or the neutral deck you will be able to select another deck to use their cards.

Example: If you select a summoner from the dragon deck and select the water deck you will be able to use the cards from the dragon deck, the water deck and the neutral deck (the neutral deck is like a universal deck that always will be available as long as the rule does not exist on the battlefield).

If you select a summoner from the neutral deck you will also be able to select another deck to use his cards.

I won't go into details about all the decks, my focus will be on Water which is my favorite and I will also demonstrate a battle with it so you can see how powerful it is.

As I mentioned before there are several powerful cards in the water deck and my favorites are with magic attack, if I talk about all the cards in the deck then this post will not have an end and that's why I prefer to show on the battlefield how strong it is so you can see how this deck works in practice.

I won't use all the cards in the deck because there are too many, I'll just show some battles using the strategies I have for this deck.

BATTLE

Watch the Battle

In this battle I used the summoner Alric Stormbringer and several cards with magic attack so that I could take more advantage of Alric's +1 magic attack buff.

There is the Briar Patch rule in battle and it means that all cards will get the Thorns ability, this ability makes melee cards take 2 damage when they attack a card with Thorns ability, so melee cards have a big disadvantage in this rule and that's why I avoided using this type of card in battle.

My strategy is very simple, I used Lord Arianthus which is a card without attack but with a strong defense. I used the cards Djinn Oshannus, Ruler of the Seas, Venari Wavesmith and Sea Genie as cards with magic attack that will benefit from Alric Stormbringer's buff and I also used the Crustacean King card that has ranged attack and the Tank Heal ability that will be very useful healing my card that is in the first position.

Venari Wavesmith will also be very useful as it has the Protect ability and it will grant +2 shield to all my cards and the shield will be a great defense against melee and ranged attacks.

BATTLE 2

Watch the Battle

In this second battle I followed a similar path, I used the summoner Alric Stormbringer and several cards with magic attack. Lord Arianthus is also defending in 1st position and there is now the Armored Up rule which grants +2 shield to all cards and the Fire & Regret rule which grants the Return Fire ability to all cards.

In this battle I avoided using cards with ranged attack since they are at a disadvantage because of the Fire & Regret rule, my focus was on cards with magic attack and this time I used Prismatic Energy card which has Magic Reflect ability and Spirit Hoarder which has the Triange ability.

The water deck is incredibly strong and the magic attack cards are very useful and powerful that's why it's my favorite deck, these 2 battles was just a small part of the deck, there are other great combinations you can try.
