Today we return with a new Splinterlands fan art, and this post will be my participation for Splinterlands Art Contest Week 375. These days I have been more present playing, although I am still learning many things. The fan art I bring has a more Christmas touch since we are in that time of year, so we light up our drawing and bundle up well. Today the protagonist of the fan art will be Scarred Llama Mage, a character I have only drawn once before, but I think it will be the perfect protagonist for my fan art. Let’s go draw!

Hoy regresamos para un nuevo fan art de Splinterlands y esta publicación será mi participación para Splinterlands Art Contest Week 375. Estos días he estado más presente jugando aunque sigo aprendiendo muchas cosas. El fan art que les traigo tiene un toque más navideño ya que estamos en esa época del año, así que encendemos luces en nuestro dibujo y nos abrigamos bien. Hoy tendremos de protagonista en el fan art a Scarred Llama Mage, un personaje que solo he dibujado una vez con anterioridad, pero creo que será el protagonista perfecto para mi fan art. ¡Allá vamos a dibujar!

Splintercards

I started my drawing by focusing on the shapes my llama would have. I used basic cylinder shapes for each part of the body. It is very simple to draw animals when you break them down well into their basic forms: the face, its long neck, its four legs, and body, and of course its little tail cannot be missing.

Comencé mi dibujo centrando las formas que tendría mi llama. Utilicé formas básicas de cilindro para cada parte del cuerpo. Es muy sencillo dibujar animales cuando los descompones bien en sus formas básicas: el rostro, su cuello largo, sus cuatro patas y cuerpo, y por supuesto que no puede faltar su colita.

I added more details to my llama, I made the skin hairier and the facial features are smiling with happiness. And since it cannot be missing at this time of year, a Christmas hat that I will color red. The original card has a vine around the neck, but I will change that plant vine for a vine of Christmas lights of different colors. I also drew its saddle with fringes. I will lower the opacity of my sketch to start creating the line art right away.

Agregué más detalles a mi llama, le hice la piel más peluda y los rasgos del rostro están sonriendo de felicidad. Y como no puede faltar en esta época del año, un gorro de Navidad que colorearé de rojo. For the line art I used a solid brush of approximately 1.8 px with pressure variation. I am using Photoshop to make this drawing. In some areas of the lines I will increase the thickness to play with linear variation and create zones of greater depth. Once all the line art is ready I can immediately discard the sketch layer.

Para el line art utilicé un pincel sólido de aproximadamente 1.8 px con variación de presión. Estoy utilizando Photoshop para realizar este dibujo. En algunas zonas de las líneas aumentaré el grosor para jugar con la variación lineal y crear zonas de mayor profundidad. Ya con todo el line art listo puedo de una vez desechar la capa del boceto.

Now I colored each area of my drawing with solid colors, taking some liberties with the palette. To these blocks of solid color I will add lights and shadows and some textures to create not only volumes but also to make the whole drawing more interesting.

Ahora coloreé con colores sólidos cada una de las zonas de mi dibujo, estoy tomándome algunas libertades con los colores. A estos bloques de color sólido les agregaré luces y sombras y algunas texturas para crear no solo volúmenes sino también hacer más interesante todo el dibujo.

And that’s it! Here is today’s protagonist. I added this sticker effect all around the edge by making a selection of the character and expanding it. But let’s work a little on the background so it doesn’t feel so empty: I will add some pine trees with a preset brush, a place to set the llama, and of course a bit of snow.

¡Y listo! Ahí quedó el protagonista de hoy. Le coloqué este efecto sticker por todo el borde haciendo una selección del personaje y expandiéndolo. Pero trabajemos un poco en el fondo para que no se sienta tan vacío: agregaré algunos pinos con un pincel preestablecido, un lugar donde colocar a la llama y, por supuesto, un poco de nieve.
