Hello everyone, Lester here! It's time again for Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge! How's your recent battles? While you're not sure yet on what is your next strategy, check out my entry to this challenge - SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! LIFE SAPPER.

Let's take a run down first of this card's lore and stats.

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: DEATH
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: LIFE LEECH AT LVL 1, REDEMPTION AT LVL 8

Life sappers are in between life and death. One side of their body is ghostly while the other is alive and well. They are neither fully living nor dead. They feed off the energies around them, and simply being within view of a Life Sapper will make you feel sick and weak. They siphon energy from their victims, slowly weakening and sickening them while simultaneously healing themselves.

Rulesets

Explosive Weaponry
All Monsters have the Blast ability.
The best strategy is to have fast monsters with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity. For defense, Shield and Void will come in handy.

Broken Arrows
Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.
A high HP first monster with Void ability will deal with both melee and magic.
Give your tank a back up with a tank heal support.
Using Thorns or Magic Reflect is also very useful in this rule set.
Defend against either Magic or Melee attacks by using the right summoner and then use monsters' abilities to deal with the other attack type.

Battle Configuration

Here is the line-up I used in this 14 mana-cap battle challenge which is in Modern Format.

PositionMy Line UpEnemy Line Up
SummonerByzantine Kitty (Lvl 2)Kelya Frendul (Lvl 4)
First PositionDragon Spirit (Lvl 1)Chaos Agent (Lvl 4)
Second PositionCorpse Fiend (Lvl 1)Hardy Stonefish (Lvl 5)
Third PositionChaos Agent (Lvl 3)Djinn Oshannus (Lvl 2)
Fourth PositionLife Sapper (Lvl 4)---

I used Byzantine Kitty even though the mana cap is only 14 because I knew that this card is a good combo with Life Leech ability. The goal of this battle is for Life Sapper to accumulate enough HP until it reach the first position. In the first position, Life Sapper's Life Leech plus Byzantine Kitty's heal has a huge percentage of success.

I used Dragon Spirit as my tank hoping that it can last long enough until Life Sapper has high HP. Even though it has no attack power, its base Speed plus Flying ability are enough to evade attack from the opponent. And if we add Byzantine Kitty's +2 Speed, the change of evading the enemy will increase.

Unfortunately, the enemy used magic attack and that one cannot be avoided by Dragon Spirit. Djinn Oshannus inflicted direct damage to Dragon Spirit and the Blast effect eliminated my Corpse Fiend. This is the reason why I put Corpse Fiend and Chaos Agent in between Dragon Spirit and Life Sapper. They will act as shield to prevent damage being inflicted to Life Sapper at the early game. Luckily, the enemy has no monster with Sneak ability in this battle.

Here is a good thing about Life Leech plus Blast. Life Sapper inflicted direct damage to enemy Chaos Agent and accumulated 1 HP. The Blast effect then inflicted damage to Hardy Stonefish and also accumulated 1 HP. Life Sapper accumulated 2 HP instead of only 1 HP in this round.

And for the succeeding rounds, only Djinn Oshannus from the enemy side and Dragon Spirit and Life Sapper on my side remain. Djinn Oshannus will inflict direct damage to Dragon Spirit and the Blast ability will deal damage to Life Sapper. Byzantine Kitty will then heal Dragon Spirit and Life Sapper will accumulate 1 HP per round. Even though Djinn Oshannus has Phase ability, good thing is that Life Sapper has True Strike from Byzantine Kitty and that prevent its attack from missing.

Because the enemy side has no heal, Djinn Oshannus reached 0 HP at round 13 while Dragon Spirit and Life Sapper maintained their HP.

Did my strategy work?

Yes, my strategy worked well! Good thing is that the enemy has no back line attacker, else, I will not win this battle. I often try this line up in Bronze league and usually it can counter Llama-Flesh Golem Combo. But here in Silver League, I would like to explore more the effectiveness of this card combo, especially on different rulesets.

What will you try differently next time?

I would love to try here in Silver League for Life Sapper to reach more than 20 HP at the end of the battle. In this battle, I was hoping that Spirit Dragon will be eliminated making Life Sapper my sole monster. By then, Byzantine Kitty's Heal plus Life Sapper's Life Leech will do the wonder. I know I have tried that before in Bronze League and I would lone to try that in Silver League, too.

Nice one. Seems that the combination of Life Sappers attack damage plus Byzantine Kitty's healing ability on your tank contributed to your win. 😊
