Good day, Splinterlands! It's a gloomy morning in our place today due to weather's low pressure. Anyway, how's your recent battles? I hope you are having a fun time battling out using your precious cards. For this post, I would like to share this amazing battle with Desert Dragon that showcased its Trample ability together with Stampede Ruleset to smash each enemy on a single turn. How did I won using this card? Let's take a look at it.

Here is a quick rundown of Desert Dragon stats.

Desert Dragon
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: LEGENDARY
Element: DRAGON
Attack: MELEE
Abilities: TRAMPLE, PIERCING, RETALIATE, GIANT KILLER

LORE

When the Venari dug their tunnels and burrows, creating the Realm of Silence, little did they know of the ancient creatures they disturbed hidden beneath the ground. Forgotten, from almost a millennia ago, these dragons were awakened and gripped by an everlasting hunger. Unfortunately for the Venari, they were the first poor souls to run into these feral beasts and were sent fleeing through their tunnels in horror at what they’d uncovered.”...

Battle Configuration

The Modern Format rulesets for this fight are Explosive Weaponry (All Monsters have the Blast ability.), Stampede (The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.) and Taking Sides (Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles.). The maximum amount of mana allowed is 26. The Active elements are Earth, Life and Dragon. For my summoner, I used Quix the Devious to reduce the Speed and Range attack of enemy monsters. I then put Desert Dragon in the first position as my main damager. I then placed three support monsters namely, Adelade Brightwing to restore Desert Dragon's armor, Time Mage to further reduce the Speed of the enemy and Venari Crystalsmith to heal Desert Dragon's HP. Soul Fiend is a filler 0-mana monster than will act as shield from back line attacks.

At first, I already has the disadvantage due to the enemy's Magic Reflect. The damage dealt by Time Mage together with Blast ability to Blinding Reflector and Pelacor Conjurer killed her.

She was then resurrected by Adelade Brightwing and at same round, Adelade Brightwing was also a victim of Magic Reflect.

The enemy monsters continued their damage barrage to my monsters, good thing that Desert Dragon has shield that received all physical attacks.

It's as if my line-up will be defeated on a few turns more, but in 36th turn, Desert Dragon began to do what it supposed to do, crushed the enemy! It first attacked Blinding Reflector. Because of its Piercing ability and Blast ruleset, its first attacked also damaged Pelacor Conjurer.

image.png

The Trample ability was then triggered and it attacked Venari Cystalsmith which the Blast effect also killed Dax Paragon.

image.png

The Trample ability was then triggered again and it attacked Time Mage which also damaged Pelacor Arbalest.

Lastly, the Trample ability attacked Pelacor Arbalest and crushed it. In one round, Desert Dragon managed to destroy all opponent monsters and my line-up won the battle. Here is the full replay in Splinterlands.

My Takeaway in using Desert Dragon

Actually, I do not regularly use Desert Dragon, it just so happened that the Ruleset has Stampede. And it is highly recommended to use a monster with Trample ability if the ruleset has Stampede because it will trigger Trample ability multiple times in one round as long as it killed the trampled monster. And its so satisfying to see your monster 1-turn kill all enemy monsters. The other good thing was even though Desert Dragon has 1 Speed only in this battle, it did not miss!
