Good day, everyone! It's time again for another battle challenge from Splinterlands. This time, the battle challenge is Broken Arrows Ruleset. If you would also like to participate, please make sure to check their post here - BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! Aside from the battle itself, I will be also sharing some tips from what I have experienced on what to consider in this ruleset. If this piques your interest, please continue reading this post.

RULESET: Broken Arrows

Description:
Monsters with ranged attacks cannot be used.
Monsters with 2 types of attack (which include ranged) cannot be used.

I am playing in Modern League Format, so what I will share are gameplays that I have experienced so far in Modern League. Since Ranged Attacks are not allowed, main damager will be either Melee or Magic Attack. Also, we should try to avoid Summoners that focus on buffing or de-buffing range attacks and utilize a more useful summoners. These are the summoners that buff or de-buff range attacks: General Sloan, Contessa L'ament, Ilthain , Fernheart, Ilthain and Quix The Devious.

We should also pay attention to summoners like Mylor Crowling that will return the damage of melee attackers and Owster Rotwell that returns damage of magic attackers.

For the battle that I will share, the rulesets together with Broken Arrows are Target Practice (All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.) and Ferocity (All Monsters have the Fury ability.). Since Ranged Attacks are not allowed and I wanted to maximize the Target Practice Ruleset, I used Magic Attacks for my line-up.

Position/RoleCardDescription
SummonerObsidianSince it is more advisable to use Magic attack monsters, I used Obsidian to give allied monsters +1 Magic Attack power.
Position 1Mycelic SlipspawnMy main tank here is in Position 1 with its Taunt ability. I wanted to attract all attacks but forgot about the Ferocity ruleset.
Position 2Fungus FiendThis a filler monster but will server as second layer of defense once Mycelic Slipspawn is defeated.
Position 3Goblin PsychicMy support monster with Magic attack also is at position 3. Its main role is to heal damage taken by Mycelic Slipspawn.
Position 4Regal PerytonIt has also 2 magic attack and has 6 Speed which means it will probably attack first if there are no monster with higher Speed than it.
Position 5Magi of ChaosMy main attacker is at Position 5 with 3 magic attack power.
Position 6Spirit HoarderThis is secondary support. One of the ruleset will target Monsters with Ranged, Magic, or no attack that are not in the first position. Spirit Hoarder will then heal damaged allied with its Triage ability.

As expected, my Mycelic Slipspawn got hammered pretty hard that in Round 1 Turn 9, it was easily defeated.

In addition to that, Fungus Fiend was also easily killed and my Pyschic Goblin left with 1 HP.

image.png

Good thing is that it has Heal, so it was left with 3 HP at the end of Round 2.

The enemy also has a healer, however, my monsters with magic attack, targeted Djinn Oshannus which was in Position 2. My monsters were able to defeat it in Round 3.

Also in Round 3, even though Cruel Sethropod has 4 Armor, it was easily defeated with Magic Attack from Goblin Psychic.

My monsters then focused their attack on enemy Merdaali Guardian which has no defense against magic attacks.

image.png

With only one damager at the moment, my line-up was able to defeat the enemy monsters one by one.

And even though Xenith Monk has heal, it was overpowered by the output of magic attacks from my line up. Here is the full replay in Splinterlands.

This was definitely a very a fun battle. Using magic attacks turned out pretty well. The good thing also was because of the Target Practice Ruleset. My monsters were able to defeat the support monsters first. That's all and thank you for reading my post! I will see you again the following week with a brand-new Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge!
