Splinterlands Battle: Molten Ash Golem in Action!
Introduction
Good day, Splinterlands! It's time again for Splinterlands' SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! MOLTEN ASH GOLEM I would like to share to you guys one of my battles using Molten Ash Golem. This monster is also not usually part of my regular lineup because I mostly used Tarsa as my Fire Summoner and it buffs the melee attack of allied monsters. For this post, instead of using a fire element to summon Molten Ash Golem, I used a Dragon Summoner. How did I used Molten Ash Golem to win? Let's look at it.
Here is a quick rundown of Molten Ash Golem stats.
MOLTEN ASH GOLEM
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: FIRE
Attack: RANGED
Abilities: CLOSE RANGE AT LEVEL 1, WEAKEN AT LEVEL 5, DEMORALIZE AT LEVEL 8
LORE
The Molten Ash Golems are birthed from a creature known as the Forgotten One. Created by the High Magus of the Crypteia and serving as his personal servant, the Forgotten One is a fiery beast of might and malice.
The Forgotten One's great power sometimes spills over, leaving trails of molten ash in its wake. And within these beats the strong enchantments the Magus originally put on his Forgotten One. Within a day, these piles of burning ash become sentient...

Battle Configuration
The Modern Format rulesets for this fight are Unprotected and Taking Sides and the maximum amount of mana allowed is 24. The available elements are Fire, Death and Dragon. Based on the opponents battle history, there is a huge chance that the opponent will use Dragon Monsters. specifically, Djinn Chwala. Djinn Chwala has Thorns ability and I thought that it is best to use Moten Ash Golem as my tank. At level 4, Molten Ash Golem has a huge HP fitted for a tank and it has range attack which will not be affected by Thorns ability. And since Tarsa will buff the melee damage and HP of allied monsters, I used Quix the Devious instead.
- UNPROTECTED: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs. Protect, Piercing, Repair, Rust are useless. Focus on a tank with high HP and Heal. Splintercards Unprotected Ruleset.
- TAKING SIDES: Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles. There are no special tricks for this ruleset, but make a balanced team. Splintercards Taking Sides Ruleset.
Let's Battle!
As expected, the opponent used Djinn Chwala as the main tank and will hurt my melee attackers by its Thorns. I put Radiated Scorcher in Position 1 mainly as filler monster to make the mana cap worth it. I then placed my Molten Ash Golem in Position 2 because Radiated Scorcher will surely die in Level 1 and Molten Ash Golem will act as my tank. While Molten Ash Golem is tanking the opponent's attack, my back-line monsters will attack the enemy from behind. These monsters that will be my attackers are Tenyii Striker, Whelp Herder and Dhampir Infiltrator. I used Naga Assassin to take my chance that the enemy will miss and will be damaged by Backfire.
In Round 1, my Radiated Scorcher was defeated and this was as expected. My Molten Ash Golem moved to the 1st position and inflict 2 damage to Djinn Chwala. And since Molten Ash Golem has Ranged Attack and can also attack even at Position 1, it did not receive damage from Thorns.
Molten Ash Golem also received damage in Round 1, however, it has huge HP and might withstand 2 more rounds.
In Round 2, Molten Ash Golem was able to land a hit on Djinn Chwala again and did not receive damage from Thorns.
It also received damage from Djinn Chwala again but was able to still be alive. It's a good thing that Molten Ash Golem has 10 HP at Level 4 and can provide assistance to my back-line attackers by tanking the damage upfront.
The battle concludes at Round 3 after defeating Djinn Chwala and I got 4,049 RP points and 0.204 SPS.

My Takeaway in using Gem Meteor
Based on this battle, Molten Ash Golem was very useful as a tank. Most tanks have armor however, the ruleset removed this armor will expose the HP of tank directly. Djinn Chwala has Thorns and will likely do damage directly to tanks HP, but since Molten Ash Golem has ranged attack and can attack in the first position because of its Close Range ability, this card was proved to be effective in this kind of battle.
