Brawl Frays Rebellion Update

Rumours of change are on the lips of the townspeople, circulating in whispers through crowded market streets and spread by Gladiators fresh from the Arena. The Frightening Organization of Menacing Channelers (FOMC) is meeting again, bravely carrying on their work from an undisclosed location, flaunting the best efforts of Chaos Legion soldiers to hunt them down. New rules of engagement for Brawling are being drafted. And some even dare talk of a coming Rebellion, a chance for the people of Praetoria to rise up and reclaim their destiny from the ravening hordes of Chaos...

It's an exciting time in the Splinterlands with the launch of the Rebellion Card Set just around the corner! A new set of cards brings new possibilities for battle, as well as updated Frays for Brawls.

However Frays will not be changing immediately upon Rebellion launch, as we can't make these updates while active Brawls are ongoing.

We will be making the following changes, which will become effective on Friday December 8 ET, during the results phase of that week's Brawl cycle. This means guilds will start seeing the impact of these changes in the next Brawl after Rebellion launches.

Note: in the below lists, Frays highlighted in bold are the ones that will be changing. Other Frays remain the same.

Set Legend:

  • Chaos = Chaos Legion
  • A+B+U = Alpha + Beta + Untamed

Across all Tiers, Modern Frays will be changing from Untamed + Chaos to Chaos + Rebellion, reflecting the fact that the Untamed Set is rotating out of the Modern format with the launch of Rebellion.

The goals with these changes are twofold:

  1. Adjustments for Rebellion - rotate Untamed out of Modern Frays and replace Chaos Legion with Rebellion.
  2. Adjustments for Land - make Frays with older card sets more forgiving, with an awareness that many older cards will be placed on Land and thus become more difficult to acquire for Brawling. This is reflected in the across-the-board changes to Alpha and Alpha + Beta Frays.

Also, as a reminder, a card set includes its core edition (Alpha, Beta, Untamed, Chaos Legion, or Rebellion) plus all associated Promo, Reward, and Expansion / Mini-Set cards. So in the above tables, for example, Chaos Legion includes the Chaos Legion core edition, Chaos Legion Promo & Reward cards, and the Riftwatchers expansion. Similarly, Untamed includes the Azmare Dice expansion and Beta includes Essence Orb cards.

An easy rule of thumb is that all cards with the same visual style of card frame go together in their respective card sets.

Happy Brawling! As always, we look forward to seeing you in the Arena. May the best Battle Mage win!

Stay tuned for more updates from the Splinterlands!

Our community is 90 % modern and 10 % wild. Please the more important change here would be to reflect that same ratio when it comes to wild and modern frays.

The number one complaint I get from guild members in all guild I have been a part of is "I only want to play modern frays I do not have wild cards."
This is really a very big factor make sure to include this in the brawl update. Not doing so will be a continued disservice to how your community is structured.

As a player who often plays in wild frays with a CL only deck, it's not that much worse. Yes, I get stomped by the rare valanor, but it's pretty rare. And I do sometimes win. I'd recommend you encourage your guild mates to try wild matches and plan for what your opponent might be using.

I play mostly Wild and I feel much comfortable with even though bots are annoying, but it gives you all the cards to play with and not like Modern with limited. BTW, it will be even difficult to play in Modern because of removal of untamed edition for some months as you'll face whales and dolphins having all the Rebellion cards fighting against low level players.

love the updates. not so sure about the completely rebellion frays in tier 1 as cl cards will probably be a better entry for newer players?
