The worlds of Splinterlands and Electroneum have officially collided… and the Voltage Event has arrived in Praetoria. 🌎🔥

This is more than just another event.

Voltage introduces a brand-new way to engage with Praetoria through the exclusive ElectroFox Miner, a special dual-sided card that can battle or generate Electroneum Voltage Points (EVP) when staked on land.

Players can spend EVP in the Rewards Shop to unlock Voltage Reward Chests packed with ETN, skins, special foils, Glint, Energy and Frontier Packs. ⚡

And don’t forget…

The ElectroFox does more than mine Voltage Points. 🦊⚡

This beast is an absolute menace on the battlefield and is already making plenty of friends across Praetoria. Between its utility on land and its power in combat, the ElectroFox is shaping up to be one of the most unique crossover collectibles we’ve ever released. 🔥

⚡ Meet ElectroFox ⚡

Lore:

The lightning fox, also known as "electrofox", is a small, solitary predator found exclusively in the Northeast Machair. Adults measure roughly one meter from snout to tail and weigh between seven and twelve kilograms. Their fur is pale silver-gray, darkening to charcoal at the extremities, and carries a faint static charge at all times. The fur crackles audibly and produces brief, visible arcs of electricity between the guard hairs. In the Machair's wet, low-lying marshlands, the effect intensifies considerably.

Lightning foxes generate electricity through specialized cells called electrocytes, distributed in dense clusters beneath the skin along the spine, flanks, and tail. Derived from modified muscle tissue and stacked in series, these cells produce a cumulative voltage far greater than any individual cell could achieve. When triggered by the nervous system, the electrocytes fire in rapid, synchronized bursts, generating a discharge that radiates outward from the body in all directions.

The discharge serves both offensive and defensive purposes. At close range, it is powerful enough to kill small mammals and amphibians outright. Larger animals suffer involuntary muscle contractions and disorientation. The fox's preferred habitat amplifies this effect. The Machair's waterlogged soil and standing pools conduct the discharge well beyond the fox's immediate proximity, creating a kill radius that can extend several meters in favorable conditions. Prey animals that drink from shallow pools or wade through wet grass near a hunting lightning fox are often dead before they register the threat.

Lightning foxes are crepuscular, hunting primarily at dawn and dusk. They are solitary outside of the breeding season, maintaining territories marked by scent along the borders of their range. During late winter, mated pairs form and share a den, typically a burrow excavated beneath a rock shelf or root system near one of the Machair's many small lakes. Both parents provision the kits, which are born blind and without electrical capability. The electrocytes develop gradually over the first three months. Juvenile foxes can deliver a painful but nonlethal shock by the time they begin hunting independently.

Encounters with lightning foxes are uncommon. They avoid settlements and larger predators when possible, and their silver coloring blends with the Machair's mist and pale grasses. But travelers of Northeast Machair, particularly during the wet season, learn to watch for the signs: the sudden silence of wildlife, a sharp scent of ozone, and a prickling sensation across the skin.

That's pretty cool and the cards look out of this Universe.

I'm cautiously excited about this new promotional card, especially if it entices more people to join the game from the Electroneum ecosystem. I hope this works out. I'm very excited to use this card in battle, but I won't be putting it on land any time soon.

So I just want to understand correctly, if we use the card in ranked play, then we will not be earning any EVP and we will be unable to buy the chests that would provide premium GF, BF, and arcane versions of the card. So really, the premium versions are only available for people who put it on land. That's a bummer for ranked players.

Topic: Dual utility mechanic of the new crossover card "ElectroFox".

Tags: #splinterlands #electroneum #electrofox #nftutility #cryptogaming

Claim: The ElectroFox card has a unique hybrid nature in Praetoria, functioning in two ways: as an offensive unit with damage abilities on the battlefield, or as a miner on land parcels to passively generate Voltage Points (EVP).

00 — Electroneum wallets with more than 30 days of activity receive early access to the Voltage event and can start claiming rewards immediately.

Why it matters: It redefines the value of a game NFT. A player no longer has to choose between using their card to compete or leaving it idle; here, the asset has direct commercial and strategic value in two distinct layers of the game economy simultaneously.

The significance of this event exemplifies true interconnectedness in Web3. By creating a dual asset (the ElectroFox) that functions for both traditional card play and passive land-based strategy, Splinterlands and Electroneum achieve a genuine economic incentive. The design, with its strict supply limits (scarcity by design) and chests featuring random mechanics, is well-structured to appeal to both active players and cryptocurrency investors/collectors.
