Please accept this post as my submission to the Splinterlands Fan Art Emote Contest.

Step #1 - Find My Inspiration

There is no finer creature in all of the Splinterlands than the beauty that came to my mind. Their eggcellant features are enchanting. They are deeply devoted, not "fair-feathered" friends. They won't put up with your squacking.

Drum roll, please! Let me introduce to you to Furious Chicken!

Don't let this zero mana beauty fool you. Furious Chickens all across the Splinterlands have joined an uprising called the Cluckening, lead by their fearless leader, @AlphaChicken.

Giving credit where credit is due: My submission is inspired by the great artwork of the Splinterlands design team.

Step #2 - Find The Right Software

16 x 16 pixels, huh? If a product called Pixelmator can't get the job done, then I am in deep chicken poo!

Step #3 - Set Up The Canvas

  • First, click File / New.
  • Second, enter the proper height and width.

  • Third, increase the size. That's too tiny!

  • Fourth, click View / Show Grid.

Step #4 - Create The Right Background

There were several preset gradient options to choose from. The Furious Chicken card is traditionally set on a dark gray background, but I needed something with a little more pop, but not so outrageous that it would take away from the star of the show.

I decided to use a light blue, gradient background. My kiddos approved!

Step #5 - Perfect The Chicken

The Comb and the Wattle
Has to be red, obviously! You can't have a great EMOTE without great hair (the comb). And I am partial to great facial hair as well (the wattle).

The Beak
Bold and beautifully orange! Needs to stand out as much the comb and the wattle.

The Black
The original Furious Chicken sports a lot of black lines. My 16 x 16 pixeled perfection showcases a single black dot.

The Grays and White
These colors paint the real story. They cast the shadows and give texture to the feathers.

Step #6 - Combine Everything Together

And this is the final results! Tada!

Tell me what you think!

See you around the battlefield

@steemmonsters - Thank you for the vote. Your generosity is making a lot of impact for a lot of people.

Quick question. Is everything ok with the account? The percent of the vote and associated value did not appear as I would have expected. Just reaching out in case something is going on.
