SPS Governance Proposal - Extend Visions of Verico Sale
The purpose of this proposal is to allow the SPS DAO to vote on whether or not it would like to extend the Visions of Verico sale. It was originally planned to have a tight sale cycle, but multiple community members have asked to extend it to allow more time for people to buy as well as more time for the DAO to sell the packs. Since the DAO owns all of the packs and is the beneficiary of the pack sales, it should be a DAO decision whether or not to extend the sale.
Proposal
If this proposal passes, the Visions of Verico land card set will have its sale extended to December 31st 2026 unless it sells out before that date. If it does not sell out by that date, any unsold packs will still be transferred to the @sps.dao account as originally intended.
Edit and Update 7/17/26
After the announcement about land cards being used as foreman and the subsequent Town Hall last night, I asked for explicit clarification on multiple points as people seemed confused. Here is the update that was approved by Matt to help clarify his vision:

No. Just no. Extending sales of any type, just like discounting prices, should always be discouraged. When sales are extended it causes devaluation of assets, and demotivates those who have chosen to buy in the first place.
I agree with this and will be voting no. I didn't want the land cards in the first place
I wouldn't extend it. I'd drop it down to the 50k packs it should have always been. I don't know why this game keeps thinking hundreds of thousands of packs is scarcity. 50k packs would have likely caused a frenzy up front and it would have sold out. Now its just sad and we didn't even sell that many and its more clear than ever that we're limping along.
In terms of extending it, the text here says community members have been asking to extend it so more people have a chance to buy. That to me sounds like the community members asking aren't wanting to buy more themselves. If there are a bunch of people saying they personally need more time to buy, maybe. If it's a bunch of community members who just expect that if they leave it open, other people might buy, shut it down.
well I know I asked because I don't have the money right now but will in a month. That's personal to me. I knew they were coming but was hoping they wouldn't show up for a few months and was shocked it was so soon. I do think it would be interesting to drop the amount of packs though. (or possibly use extra unsold packs as prizes for something else. )
Last comment. I'm on the Splinterlands website daily. I play daily. I buy cards. I visit the discord and I listen passively to the townhalls. This set dropping was a total surprise to me. The day it came out I'd never processed the words "Visions of Verico". How bad is our messaging when someone like me is able to completely miss that a pack drop is coming?
Ok as someone who would LOVE to see the sale extended but only have about 2900 sps voting power... A few things. I'd suggest (IF POSSIBLE ) tweaking this so that the sale much like the summer fun gift boxes goes to the end of summer-- not Dec 31st. So a few months. -- (so if this fails don't know if you can tweak the proposal and put it back up.)
Also I think the PP on these cards are too low, I see that it matches basic modern cards like CA. honestly I think they should be roughly doubled. My understanding is that the cards work for people with PP at or below 20k. Which would be 4000 a card- So if the max card was 4k that would make sense. --- BTW- I'm assuming thats basePP ? Not After all adjustments for element type (+10%) etc... right?
I don't know if cards can be tweaked after they are "minted" In other games that have cards --- like Empires and Puzzles - cards are constantly re-balanced.
-- I myself have mostly cards that are around pp 1000 (with the exception of a special limited time delegation and a few rented outliners) so if I'm replacing one of these cards- it's detrimental unless I can have a similar pp... that includes the extra 4 or 5 percent. So instead of stopping at say level 3 I have determined I need level 7 which is harder for me to get. (That is with the extra 5% bloodline match the card gets)
I like the idea of Building manager and have thoughts that I'm not going to put here but may drop in the land area or something.
I also think ... having the ability to craft a "battle side" to these cards eventually (using the artisan quarters) would increase the value overall for people.
Just some thoughts. :) Thank you for your time,
-- Sharon
I wouldn't extend this specific sale, but yeah, one month is a bit short if people need to shuffle funds around or sell. I guess it was meant to create urgency, maybe it will be different now that a the pressure is a bit off.
That said, you can always create another land card pack. Especially with the talk about building managers it seems like there could be more interesting abilities than %discount and %buff. At least for someone like me who doesn't care about art or skins the cards are rather boring.
I think they got the timeframe for this sale wrong - one month is too short! I am looking to buy a few packs, but not as many as I would have liked to with the timeframe being so short. It could be worthwhile extending this sale. From the teams perspective, I imagine a lot of work has gone in to creating this and it would be a shame to not give it a long enough opportunity to be more successful.
I don’t see a reason for a set like this to have such a limited release time, it is not aimed at the largest of players, not aimed at those who have collections in the millions of CP it’s aimed at players that can drop $20-$100 a month, those that have 5 plots purely for the ranked bonus… let them slowly build up their land.
It’s not distracting from those who can afford to fill out land with GF alpha and beta so just let it run and let people build up their land and let the team/dao benefit from the trickle of cash
I don't have a horse in this race, so I won't be voting. I didn't buy any of these land cards and I don't plan on it either, unless of course Cryptomancer & co decide to make some change to land which will FORCE ME to use these cards to craft assets from some building I never wanted.
Is there a plan for what the @sps.dao will be doing with the unsold packs whenever the sale ends extended or not? If the unsold packs are just listed on the secondary market at $2 a pack, isn't that the same as extending the sale since the proceeds go to the same place no matter what? or did the DAO have other intentions that have not yet been shared with the community?
We are the dao, a vote to not extended the sale means the packs sit in the dao until we make another proposal to do something else with them
I voted YES.
Normally, I do not support extending limited sales because it can reduce urgency and negatively affect early buyers. However, in this case the unsold packs will not be burned or removed from circulation. They will simply be transferred to the SPS DAO account.
Because the supply will continue to exist either way, ending the sale now would not create real scarcity. Extending it gives smaller players more time to participate and gives the DAO a better opportunity to generate revenue from an asset it already owns.
The original sale period also appears to have been too short, especially considering how many active players were not properly informed about the launch.
I would have preferred a shorter extension, perhaps until the end of September or October, but between the available choices, I believe extending the sale is the more practical option.
I'm not going to lie. I voted NO out of selfishness. These cards look great and are amazing at MAX level, but will be hard or impossible to MAX if no one buys the packs. I just chose the card that looks pretty and works with my land and MAXed it out so I could get those black and gold cards making land interesting and worth having for the first time. The less people who MAX out these cards, the better the chances will be for the few of us who did. I also bought a few packs knowing these will be rare and expensive one day.
I voted yes because I am one of the poors who doesn't always have money to buy a bunch upfront, but has to get a little at a time. Just being honest. 😆
It might be important to add that Matt may be requiring building to have friggin' MANAGERS, and is thinking about using these cards for that purpose. Of course nothing is verified, but the sale will be over before we learn any real details. There is no reason this set should be so limited, and matt potentially making these cards a requirement after the fact is sort of a disaster. Planning and timing was a huge miss here, unless we extend this sale until people have necessary details.
My opinion:
Everyone voting this down that owns at least 20 plots of land is dumb.
Matt is the game designer. He has told you straight up that you need a land card to operate a building. There is no vetoing that. He is the game designer, you are not and neither am I.
As a land owner myself with 34 plots I initially had very little interest in constructing and operating a building because I am grain balanced and I also have a castle so I can just sit back and watch the show and collect from these buildings.
But now that I see how dumb you down voter guys are, shooting yourself in the foot, I am buying the land card packs now whereas before I had no interest in them. I will be selling them back to you (as cards) at a significant increase in price.
I think there is a big disconnect here with you guys because a lot of you have never played a different Web3 land game, I have.
When buildings get released the "land" part of Splinterlands goes from a boring "distribution phase" into a "active phase."
Right now we are not even in the full "distribution phase" because magical resources and outposts have not even been introduced. Those resources would normally be in the "distribution phase."
What I am saying is that Mancer is working hard on land right now and when they drop the next land 2.0 updates it's going to blow right past the "distribution phase" and go right to the "active phase."
Your head is going to spin and you won't know what to do and you will be left with no options even though you were given PLENTY OF WARNING AND EXPLANATION.
