SPS Governance Proposal - Treasurer Update
The purpose of this proposal is to maintain an active roster of treasurers to work on behalf of the SPS DAO. Recently the treasurers were polled on who would like to continue being a treasurer and after more than a month, multiple tags and mentions, there have still been 4 that did not respond that they'd like to continue serving as treasurers and we need to maintain an active group of treasurers to effectively manage the DAO's funds and execute proposals in a timely manner. We thank them all for their service.
The new proposed treasurers that were approached have shown interest previously or were recommended by other treasurers, foundation members and community members. All of them are long-term community members in good standing that are also active in Discord for timely communication.

I am going to downvote this proposal, because I don't think the DAO Manager should simply appoint four new treasuries—something like that should happen through a transparent application process, but not like this!
I'm not appointing them (that's why we're voting) and didn't even select the names myself. They were all recommended to me as good candidates to put forth to the community. We have weekly meetings that are open to anyone that are held in the Team Possible discord server as well as other regular meetings with community members and I'm always around if anyone wants to discuss things or make suggestions.
Ideally, I would actually love if at some point we could build out on-chain treasurer voting similar to how we do for validators. Right now I think survival and fulfilling our outstanding obligations have to take priority.
All of that said, I do understand your position and if the DAO doesn't think this is the best way to proceed, then I'd suggest voting against the proposal and suggesting a better way. Last time we tried using a custom voting page on peakmonsters, but that also has issues as it's a third party tool that isn't directly visible to all voters so we end up in a similar position.
Personally, I don't care who the treasurers are as long as the DAO votes to approve them and feels they're trustworthy. I haven't seen any red flags with any of the people that were suggested this time. I simply asked (I think 6 or 7?) people that were recommended by the community and these are 4 that said yes. Others didn't want to be a treasurer for whatever reason. It's a volunteer gig and some people don't want that responsibility or hassle.
Why wasn't there a call for this in the Splinterlands Discord? I don't think a guild's Discord is the right place to discuss this. So: Why wasn't there an official announcement in the official Splinterlands Discord that would have given everyone the chance to come forward? I stand by my point: the process is completely lacking in transparency!
Are there only 4 applicants? Will we be able to vote for each applicant individually in the main proposal? Will there be a postulation process?
Also, was there a post about the DAO looking for new treasurers so other people could apply?
This proposal raises more questions than it answers... 😅
We've been pretty spotty with treasurer coverage since this started. Previously we voted to expand it to 14 treasurers and added 3 new treasurers at that time. It seemed like people were fine with that. Currently I'm just trying to help us be able to more efficiently execute proposals and find substitutes for the treasurers that didn't express an interest in continuing.
Ideally, I would prefer if we could build out on-chain treasurer voting similar to how we do for validators. We (the DAO) don't really have a lot of funds to add features to the validator network at the moment and the dev that built it is also busy with other projects. We've had some awesome community members do upgrades in the past, so maybe we can eventually find someone that has the time and skillset to build out a new treasurer voting feature.
If the DAO doesn't want to accept this proposal, that's fine, but we should definitely come up with another viable way to elect treasurers and preferably soon if this proposal fails. We've had multiple instances of bridge liquidity being delayed for multiple days and sometimes people are just busy with life or move on. Hopefully this provides some greater insight into where this proposal is coming from, if there's any other questions raised that you want answered feel free to ask.
Thank you for taking the time for a thorough answer! I usually don't do Discord a lot, hence I sometimes lack the information. I thought it might be something like that, but rather ask one too many questions when silently doubting. I know that it's quite the hassle being a treasurer, and that one has to put some serious time into that, so I'm grateful for everyone who wants to genuinely do it. I only know OFG from the ones above, and he's probably an excellent choice.
sounds good to me, got my vote
Latest Hive drama? The treasurer turnover saga is just a staged circus, hype puffed up like a blockchain bubble. SPS DAO’s new proposal to yank four ‘ghost’ signers—breakingbenjamin, cryptoeater, fatjimmy, khan.dayyanz—and plug in fresh blood (kesryn, ourfadedglory, paultrx.sps, zekrom) smells like a power shuffle, not community care. Folks are whining about “active roster,” but the noise hides the real play: tightening control while pretending transparency. Shout‑out to @hivepress for calling out the smoke—your grind keeps us honest. 🔥💰 If they think swapping names will fix the leak, they’re dreaming. Real change means accountability, not just a fresh coat of keys. Agree or nah? Drop your vote.
Interesting. I have no problem giving up my responsibilities, as it's just extra work and basically community service, but where were/are these 'multiple tags and mentions'?? I don't see them anywhere, and just looked through discord. Certainly nothing in the SPS treasurers room in the SPL server.
Once again, effective communication/conveyance of information seems to be a weak point of the SPL ecosystem.
Hey Jimmy I followed up in the treasurer room with you.
I'm sure this isn't the proper place but IDC...Just dissolve this whole DAO nonsense and give everything back to the company and let them deal with everything themselves: the finances, the decision making, and everything else in between. This horse and pony show/smoke and mirrors show is just a waste and unnecessary time in the end.
At least the three community suggestions are visible and outspoken names in our community. I support this update, even if there are some rightly raised questions about the lack of accountability and transparency.
