Investing in Splinterlands cards. From 200% per annum.

Hi there!

Today we're going to talk about one of the investment options available on the Hive blockchain. Many people don't know that there are a huge variety of ways to put their money that is lying idle or has been put into a stake at + - 20%. I want to show you another way that could bring us from 200% if the cryptocurrency world is perfect.

Disclamer

But since the cryptocurrency world is not perfect and will never be perfect, this post only serves to describe what I do myself at my own risk. I really don't know where the market will go tomorrow or what may happen with Splinterlands. I only see what the numbers show me and the options to use that data to my advantage.

The story of one investor

This story was told to me by a player in my Splinterlands clan. He started playing about 8 months ago and immediately fell in love with the game. So like a true fan, he wanted to own some cards. By transferring his assets from the exchange to Hive, he gradually bought up everything he saw at reasonable prices. It was mostly CL cards and reward card issues. He even took summoners, which of course I thought was unnecessary. Summoners used to be very expensive, and renting them was very cheap. Now it's a moot point...

After a couple of months of buying them, he calculated the return on all the cards he had and came up with a figure of 100% a year. This man is even more obsessed with numbers than I am, so he provided numbers in tables and formulas. It was impressive! Where can we see 100% now, even in calculations that don't take into account the real world?

In fact, I've done my calculations many times and come up with roughly the same numbers. And since Splinterlands has had all the ups and downs, but remains the same magnet for players, my thoughts were obvious! I didn't take a penny out of the game. I've been reinvesting in it the whole time (18 months now). And I will continue to do so.

Actually, the story didn't end there... My co-guildmate's friend needed some investment advice. And guess what? They started an account on Splinterlands and this time purchased the best set of cards at the time! Just had the experience already... Here's an interesting story like that, of which there aren't many here.

My rating of cards for investment

The most profitable cards for investment at the moment are the gift cards of the last two issues. But not only that. The reason they're bringing in 200% or more per annum at the moment is their paltry cost. Right now the market is overflowing with them, but as we know, that may not always be the case. A year and a half ago, gift cards from those issues also cost a few cents each. Now they cost 100 times as much. Measurements are approximate, so please don't hit me for that. 😅 Again, there is always the risk of the future. And since I don't know the future, I'm basing it on the present and the past!

So, let's get started!

I'm going to take max level cards so I don't have to count cents. But even now, there are tier 1 cards that cost cents, but make a nice return if you rent them out.

Number 1 of my rating

splinterlands.com

peakmonsters.com

Dhampir Infiltrator. The annual ROA of this card was 545% according to peakmonsters.com This means that in an ideal world, in a year, you would pay off your purchase and get about four more card value on top. Remember, this is not an ideal world!

Number 2 of my rating

splinterlands.com

peakmonsters.com

Dark Ferryman. The annual ROA of this card was 464% according to peakmonsters.com This means that in an ideal world, you would recoup your purchase in a year and get about three more amounts of card value on top.

Number 3 of my rating

splinterlands.com

peakmonsters.com

Barking Spider. The annual ROA of this card was 280% according to peakmonsters.com This means that in a perfect world, in a year you would pay off your purchase and get almost two more dollars of card value on top.

Number 4 of my rating

splinterlands.com

peakmonsters.com

Revealer. The annual ROA of this card was 208% according to peakmonsters.com This means that in a perfect world, in one year you would recoup your purchase and get another amount of card value on top.

Number 5 of my rating

splinterlands.com

peakmonsters.com

Vulguine. This card is the last one in my rankings, because I don't find it useful in a wide range of combats. But for 2 mana, it will do wonders under certain combat conditions! The annual ROA of this card was 231% according to peakmonsters.com This means that in an ideal world, in a year you would recoup your purchase and get another amount of card value on top.

Keep in mind that during certain periods of the season, some cards are more in demand than others. So if you decide to use this investment strategy, check my numbers for yourself. Check them out during the two weeks of full season!

How to look up yROI at peakmonsters.com I already wrote in one of my posts. I'll leave a link to it here: My top Splinterlands cards to play and rent. ENG-RU

Conclusion

Right now, many cryptocurrency industries are going through bad times. This gives us a chance to look at projects that are still afloat no matter what. There is tremendous power behind such projects to survive this bear market. And when the bull market comes, these same projects will lead the rest of us. Splinterlands has a great chance of surviving these tough times to show us a new game in a new environment! Either way, I'm game!

Nice post. I've been looking at the returns on my cards quite closely lately, and have also started using the splex golem to optimise returns. Quite interestingly I have Vulgine and Dhampir Inflitrator cards (1 each at level 1). I've not had them for long, but to be honest, I've found them to be pretty poor for rental so far. The vulgine is giving me around 21.57% APR, and the Dhampir is down at 8.39%. I get stretches where neither card will rent out, and when then do, its only at 0.1DEC/day. Maybe I overpaid for them, but I did watch the price and bought them as low as I could (Vulgine 55DEC, Dahampir 142.5 DEC). Anyway, hopefully they pick up at some point. Cheers

Thanks for your good words!

I checked the splex golem, so far on the premium peakmonsters account I'm getting a little more out of it. But I'll come back to that a little later.

I measured the max level cards in my post, that's why the numbers are so different. I noticed this even earlier, so this might even be a guide to which cards to improve to max if possible).

Anyway, something to think about, after what you said! Thanks!

Very nice explanation, Alexandr.
Thanks for sharing.
I do not play the game, but I have purchased some cards and am currently renting them out.

Do you think you could do a follow-up post on how to best purchase card packs?
I know there are potions and stuff that increase your chances of better cards, but I do not quite understand how that works.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I think it won't be difficult. All that's left to do is to make it interesting! I'll think about it for sure next week.

Thanks for the idea and good words!
