How to turn $1 into $100,000 in 1 day with Splinterlands

A few years ago I wrote a Hive blog talking about how if Splinterlands added the ability to play Sit N Go (aka Starts when full) tournaments that we could open so many opportunities.

I wrote this article titled How Sit N Go tournaments on Splinterlands would be a Game Changer and then I reached out to @aggroed about this and explained the scenario. He said he would give it a shot, but that he had tried similar events with not much participation.

I was confident that if we just allowed these types of tournaments that Splinterlands would be FULL of players 24/7 with these quick Sit N Gos, and thankfully the @splinterlands team added the feature!

I tried hosting some of these Sit N Gos for different types of leagues and editions... I had 10 DEC buy-in tournaments for Bronze, and even tried 10,000 DEC buy-in tournaments for Diamond.

However, I felt like it was extremely hard to gain traction. I would end up sending players DEC out of my own wallet, and even giving away Legendary cards as extra prizes to try and get people excited about these.

Now obviously the goal was to get people excited to play these not for the free buy-in or the extra legendary cards, but for the ability to 10x their buy-in from a quick Sit N Go tournament of 16 players.

If you are still confused on what a Sit N Go tournament is, basically it is a mini-tournament that has a smaller amount of players, and is aimed to have enough people who are ready to play a quick tournament.

With anywhere from 15k - 50k players on Splinterlands I feel like it should be easy to get 16 players at the same time to jump in and be ready to battle for riches!

It is hard to grasp this concept, because most of the time players do not want to join if other players don't join, and these Sit N Gos just sit idle until they time out.

However, if we had hundreds of players consistently ready for these, then there could be a Sit N Go for anyone and everyone at anytime!

Here are some examples of what type of tournaments we could have...

Sit N Go (Modern - Bronze)

1st - 1,000 DEC
2nd - 400 DEC
3rd - 100 DEC
4th - 100 DEC

100 DEC Entry Fee

Sit N Go (Wild - Silver)

1st - 10,000 DEC
2nd - 4,000 DEC
3rd - 1,000 DEC
4th - 1,000 DEC

1,000 DEC Entry Fee

Sit N Go (Alpha/Beta - Diamond)

1st - 1,000,000 DEC
2nd - 400,000 DEC
3rd - 100,000 DEC
4th - 100,000 DEC

100,000 DEC Entry Fee

Now these are only a few examples of what is possible, and technically the possibilities are endless. We could have every league, every level of buy-in from 10 DEC - 1m DEC buy-in with Wild, Modern, and everything in between.

Once we are able to grasp our minds around this, then we are able to see the REAL possibilites!

Take a look at these 16 player Sit N Gos, and you will see that if a player is able to buy-in for $1 and win 1st place in just 5 of these by buying in to each one with the earnings from the previous one, then any player could potentially turn $1 into $100,000 in just one day!

16 player Sit N Gos

$1 buy-in

1st - $10
2nd - $4
3rd - $1
4th - $1

$10 buy-in

1st - $100
2nd - $40
3rd - $10
4th - $10

$100 buy-in

1st - $1000
2nd - $400
3rd - $100
4th - $100

$1,000 buy-in

1st - $10,000
2nd - $4,000
3rd - $1,000
4th - $1,000

$10,000 buy-in

1st - $100,000
2nd - $40,000
3rd - $10,000
4th - $10,000

Conclusion

As we can see there are a ton of opportunities with Sit N Gos, and even though it requires players to be active and ready to go, I don't think it should be too hard to get 16 players at any time for any specific Sit N Go that anyone would want to play.

There are definitely other options with these to anywhere from 8 players, 32 players, 64 players, and the possibilities are endless. I just feel like with 16 players it's easy to take the buy-in and 10x your money if you get 1st, and still get your money back if for 3rd and 4th.

Prize pool for 16 players

16x buy-in =

Once we get sponsors and hopefully even get the Splinterlands team to automate these to run 24/7... I feel like we can have tournaments with quick buy-in and payouts for anyone ready to play any time, every day!

Lastly, I want everyone to imagine what is possible for SPS staking and even rentals for ALL types of cards for people wanting to participate in different types of Sit N Gos.

The possibilities are endless, and I hope everyone can see what I see & get as excited as I am!

One of the draws of Splinterlands, for me; is that I play while I'm working, and battling only takes a minute or two.
If work stuff pops up, I can finish submitting my team, then go do the work stuff, which might take half an hour or more.
When I'm done I then go back to SPL, watch the match and then start a new one.
I rarely have a chance to commit to 30 mins or more, particularly if the start time isn't scheduled. I can see myself jumping into the lobby and then ghosting early, way too often.
Otherwise, I very much like the concept.
