Splinterlands Scarcity

Greetings, everyone!

During the last year, the market was flooded with Splinterlands cards. Every new card added to the game (and we had plenty of them, either by packs or reward cards) pulled down a little bit the overall market cap. In desperation, some players tried to sell all, and minimize their loss.

But things are changing: the new reward cards can not be sold, at least for a while. New mechanism are announced, and they will add utility to cards that are no longer giving an advantage in play. The release of the Defense Tower (aka Soulkeep) is near. The land extension will be a big thing, and is expected to add a huge demand for cards.

I expect all these to consolidate, and to increase the scarcity of cards available in the gameplay.

The new Reward Summoners extended the usage of the Gladius cards. These are powerful beasts, and each of us will be in a race to get more of them. At the moment I'm not aware o any cap for how many Gladius cards can be printed. But this might change in the future...

I find the new changes very much interesting, and I'm happy that I decided to keep my collection of cards, and to continuously enhance it. Will I ever sale a big part of my cards? Probably yes, for the right price. But what is the write price for one to stop dreaming?

What are your thoughts?

For me it gives a nice return, and would probably love to sell it for a right price in my view. My card deck, I estimate now at 500k$

It's hard to really think about it but at some point, selling for a profit will happen. Either when you need cash or when you feel that your position is too large and some other opportunity occurs. It just depends on the circumstances.

With the new reward cards, we see a big change in the dynamics. Before sellable cards were just coming in daily. Now you actually need to purchase or win packs to get some sellable cards. It's different and maybe for the better. Personally, I stopped selling cards and try to accumulate as many of the soulbound cards (gladius and reward) as possible.

I totally share your view. I don't even remember when I've sold my last card, but for sure it must be when prices were very high. I managed to have 12000 cards, many of them at different levels.
