Do you already know the new Splinterlands abilities?

New Splinterlands abilities

As you probably already know by now, a new card set is coming to Splinterlands: Rebellion. In this post you can find all the available information concerning the pack sale. So definitely check it out as I think it will be a gamechanging edition! Ofcourse a new card set is already being hyped on its own but when there are new abilities available, it enhances the anticipated hype even more. In this article I will focus on the new abilities: What are they and how could they be usefull in your strategy.

Armored strike

The first new ability is Armored strike. It's described as follows:

Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!

So in short, it will give monsters an extra melee attack with the damage as high as their armor. I think this could be very usefull in different situations. Imagine the combination with the ability 'Protect', which gives all your monsters +2 armor. I the ruleset than lets all your melee monsters attack the first monster or gives them the sneak ability, things could get serious very fast!

I am wondering as well if this ability will only be given to melee monsters or to ranged/magic monsters as well. Not sure if such information is already disclaimed by Splinterlands. So if you know the answer, feel free to elaborate in the comments! How will it work with the double strike will be an interesting aspect as well. So, definitely some interesting points if you would ask me!

Corrosive ward

The second new ability is Corrosive ward which is described as follows:

When hit with a Melee attack, a unit with this ability does 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND reduces the max Armor of the attacker by 2. This is the nemesis to the Repair ability. You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! Note that this only affects units with Armor.

So, when you're hit with a melee attack, it does 2 damage to the attackers armor and reduced his maximum armor. This definitely is an interesting ability but I should find out in which cases it would be usefull. Guess the cases are very particular. Ofcourse there's the repair ability which this ability messes with but otherwise, the future will tell me when it would be usefull!

Flank

The third new ability is Flank, which is described as follows:

If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Prepare to leverage positioning and the element of surprise. Now your first two units can work together to bring down the enemy tank!

This means that when the unit with the flank ability in the first place, the second unit gets the reach ability and will thus be ably to attack the enemy monster on the first place as well. This will definitely shake up some stuff or make it potentially maybe easier to take on their tank. This way, you could place melee monsters with for example bloodlust in the second place which lets them already attack without taking much damage. Which means that they could charge their bloodlust while not having to tank damage. I guess monsters like Grum Flameblade will definitely like this!

Lookout

The fourth and last new ability will be Lookout which is described as:

A unit with this ability results in adjacent allies taking one less damage from attackers with Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity. Give your team a heads-up when stalkers approach from the shadows. It's always a good idea to have a Lookout!

This means that you will receive less damage when the monsters adjacent to a monster with lookout are being attacked with a sneak, snipe or opportunity attack. I guess there are several situations where such an ability will be very usefull! Ofcourse it's quite obvious when! If you think you're opponent will use a deck heavily relying on one of those abilities, than utilize a monster with Lookout and you'l see them coming!

Conclusion

I think these four abilities are great additions to the ones which are already available. Together with the other new changes, you can read more about them in my post or the official post, I think this will be an awesome cardset in which the current meta will be totally different, once it's launched.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to ask any questions in the comments!

How did I begin to play Splinterlands?

image.png
Source

It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.

Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?

Thanks for sharing! - @cieliss

Good post, the truth is that these skills are great. As a recommendation watch the format, justify and make it more attractive to the eye, the content is important but so is the presentation.
