1 Year In SPL - Reward Cards Doing Work - New Diamond Player

Welcome SPL Fam,

Its been one year since my splinterlands journey began, and here I am now breaching Diamond for the last few seasons!

It's been an awesome year, with plenty of ups and downs, all the while still loving the game and all the crazy combos I've come across in my battles. It's crazy to think how much my own strategy evolved since I started too - economic and gameplay.

It's also even crazier to think I was originally aiming to play in Silver league with the level of investment I was comfortable with at the time. That all changed with the new product and project drops, in addition to the changes in economy. I suddenly found myself saying "well let's aim for Gold league actually", and of course now I'm saying, "go for Diamond!"

Consistent fiat deposits and militant grinding of my daily/season rewards has gotten my account in as strong of a position as I possibly could be at in 1 years time -

My Current Summoner Situation:

For gold, my focus was on owning max Dragon, Water, Earth, Life, and Death. Fire was always lacking for me, but I was okay with that.

Then when I started to breach Diamond regularly toward the end of the season, I started to focus on leveling my Kretch, Kelya, and Sloan. Kretch and Sloan because they were most affordable, then Kelya because Water is absolutely my best deck so far...and Kelya is obviously the strongest Rare CL summoner.

I've always been diligent about getting my summoners in a good spot before splurging on cards. So once I felt good about my summoners, I turned to some cards to level that I thought were no brainers. Spoiler alert... the rewards cards are BEASTS!

Priority Cards to level:

While some people scoff at the reward cards' price, I fully embrace their abundance and underappreciated versatility and stats. These 4 were the first I maxed out, and they do WORK for me in those entry level Diamond games

A Couple Highlighted Battles Showing off the Reward Cards

A classic Wild sneak lineup that would usually beat my butt. My reward cards + some key CL/RW cards can make all the difference...

By Round 3, I could tell my Infiltrator was enough to take out their main damage dealers in the back and my pelacor had enough beef to sustain the front damage. Kretch + reward monsters paying off!

Here is another cheeky Wild lineup that would have normally decimated my team had I not invested in maxing my reward MVPs -

Again though, by round 3 I could tell that even the great Gold Dragon would not be enough to handle the sustain, blast, and reflection shield combo my lineup had to offer.

Last but not least, another satisfying victory over the seeming superior Quix summoner + Dr. Blight in Modern.

I wasn't feeling great after the poison drop at round 3, but when it was just Dr blight vs the rest of my 3 reward workhorses, I knew I had it in the bag! Yet another clutch victory over my opponent who had higher value cards!

Hopefully you enjoyed reading my 1 year journey through SPL so far. Hopefully you aren't sleeping on leveling your reward cards, and I hope they bring you many victories as they have for me!

I'm Looking forward to doing more yearly SPL recaps in the future. Who knows what I'll decide to showcase at that point. Tower defense? Land? Rebellion?... All the above I'm sure!

One Love,
Suales
