The new ranked system is finally here. This recent change allowed players to play with max level cards regardless of where they are in the league. This still all depends on the level of your summoner but allowing players to do this will eventually balance out the match pairing. Accounts with higher level cards will win most of the time and will ascend to their respective leagues. This is all good news to me because the bronze, silver, and gold metas are all going away in favor of max level strategies. This also meant that I would no longer be stuck in bronze as players cannot gatekeep the rankings anymore.

In preparation for this new system, I managed to secure three max level summoners from Chaos Legion before the market prices went up. I had Obsidian, General Sloan, and Thaddius Brood. I plan to slowly build up my collection of max level cards around these three splinters. Life and Earth splinters were a given because I use them all the time, but I took a shot at the Death splinter which was one of my least favorite ones.

As expected, I breezed through the bronze league as I was matched with opponents with very low card levels, although there are some high-level players too. And to my surprise, I ended up using the Death splinter more than Life and Earth. It was fun and very competitive. The abilities of these monsters were a mish-mash of debuffs, poison, and cripple. It's like fighting with voodoo power which was very on theme with the Death splinter.

Here are a few Death monster cards that I find to be really strong in max levels.

Djinn Muirat

I think everybody is sleeping on this powerhouse as it's only trading at a little above one dollar. This is truly the bane of of mages because not only does he have void armor, he also bounces them back with magic reflect. He's also one of the only four cards that have magic attack and giant killer meaning the double damage he will inflict will directly go through the enemy's health.

Cursed Windeku

Cursed Windeku is my default tank in the Death splinter lineup. Having thorn is bad enough but giving it the ability to self-heal makes him essential in most strategies. He also has slow which shifts the battle in my favor. I often pair him with Venator Kinjo as a backline support.

Venari Bonesmith

Finally, we have Venari Bonesmith. I find myself often trying to fit this monster in any lineup as the poison really matters in most scenarios. Plus, having the dispel at max level cancels out bloodlust or martyr buffs of the enemy.
