What Happens To Splinterlands When Yabapmatt and Aggroed Suddenly Disappears From The Company?

avatar

I know this may be very farfetched and extremely unlikely, but for whatever reason that Matt and Aggy suddenly decide to abandon the project, what will happen to Splinterlands? Will there be people next in line that takes control of it or will the DAO take over?

I'm just curious as these kinds of questions sit in the back of my mind whenever I join an NFT project.

knowing those that have the best intentions of splinterlands at heart i'm sure they already have processes in place to continue the project, especially from the dao perspective. i'm also sure they have a roadmap for when done is done and when to flip the switch into something new.  as with all projects of this nature it's a day by day thing, you have to keep yourself in the loop.

It's a good question.

Firstly, Splinterlands Inc has a number of employees right now, so I don't think the dudes could just disappear.  They'd have to wind down a company that has a physical office and public records.

Secondly, I think the community move from Steem to Hive is a good example of how a project can fork off another blockchain project.  Splinterlands has a lot of non-open source code, but the assets exist on the Hive blockchain, so technically anyone could create a new game or project using Splinterlands cards or tokens.

I think this is the same for any gaming company though... lots of really important people have left game companies (like Minecraft for example) and either the games kind of lose popularity at that point or they keep going and grow.
