When Zyriel was first offered on sale, I wasn't able to get a copy for myself due to its high cost. But her card design brought something new and special to the Splinterlands card game, the introduction of multicolored creatures.

Zyriel was the fallen angel version of Splinterlands, which was popular among other fantasy lores. By tapping into forbidden powers, she became and outcast and now seeks redemption.

And with that, Zyriel can be played in both Life and Death splinters. Aside from her duality, her abilities are also unique and interesting. First off, she has the more recent ability, Weapons Training. This allows her to grant ranged attack to two adjacent monsters with no attack.

My personal favorite picks as partners for Zyriel are Warrior of Peace, Clockwork Aide, and Will-o-Wisp. First of, Clockwork Aide is a great support card as well as a backline defender with its high armor rating. The only drawback is that it only has one hitpoint. Even at bronze level, the Swiftness ability that you get is a big advantage. On higher levels, the synergy gets even better as Clockwork Aide also has Rust. Combine that with Zyriel's own Rust, that basically strips all of the enemy monsters' armor which makes sure that all ranged damage hits through the health.

For Life splinter, Warrior of Peace is a good option for me, placing it infront of Zyriel. The debuff on all attack types is a great blanket strategy. He can also be a good tank when he finds himself in the frontlines. This allows time for Zyriel to gain a substantial health from Life Leech for when she becomes the next frontliner after Warrior of Peace dies.

Similarly, Will-o-Wisp is also a good option when I am in the Death splinter. Having high health and good evasion ensures that it will last long in the battle. It also has Silence on higher levels which is a great protection against magic monsters.

For the summoner pairings, I personally utilize General Sloan whenever possible. The ranged attack damage buff affects all monsters enhanced with Zyriel's Weapons Training. And even if the enemy utilizes the Return Fire ability like using Ilthain, the health gained from Life Leech compensates for the reflected damage. Astral Entity is also a good option especially on the Death splinter due to the minus two armor. As I mentioned above, clearing the enemy monsters' armor is a good strategy in order to make ranged attacks more effective.

The shared battle here utilizes Zyriel on the Life splinter. You can check out the link here. It is a 46-mana silver match with Counterspell and Equalizer rule sets. Both me and my opponent used the same summoner, Ilthain.

I decided to try and have an upperhand in terms of speed so I deployed both Time Mage as well as Clockwork Aide. Clockwork Aide greatly benefits from the Equalizer rule as it now has eight health instead of one and ranged attack from Zyriel's Weapons Training.

The enemy used Chain Golem as tank which is quite intimidating with its defensive abilities. It has Shield, Void, Magic Reflect, and Return Fire. I, on the other hand, have Imperial Knight.

It took a lot of back and forth action but at the end of round two, both of the frontline tanks were gone and it was a face-off between two Corsair Bosun. This wouldn't have been the case if Imperial Knight wasn't resurrected by Adelade Brightwing. This was a turning point as the enemy's Admiral Bosun was the last line of defense before an entire backline of defenseless range monsters.

The enemy Admiral Bosun falls first. And while War Pegasus ended up on the frontline, it was still being supported by Repair and Tank Heal abilities. But it eventually falls while the Return Fire reflections took a toll on the enemy monsters. And Zyriel still stood strong thanks to the Life Leech. Enemy is defeated at round seven.
