Overview

Hello, this week in the battle of the week we have the Mycelic Morphoid, a card of the earth splinter of only 1 mana, that although it is quite weak, it is usually used to protect other cards from sneak attacks, opportunity attacks and even in some contexts also in first position.
The reason for this is that thanks to its low cost, even if we lose it, if with this we avoid taking damage on other more important cards, we also benefit.

This card's utility in our formation increases substantially after it gains the Thorns ability at level 3, which deals damage to melee enemies that attack it.

Rules

Mycelic_rules.png

This is an excellent rule for using Mycelic Morphoid as most monsters are likely to be melee, allowing us to use this card in different positions.
In first position if we think that our enemy is going to have the first attack, protecting our tank and causing damage to the enemy.
In second or third position protecting other cards with low health from opportunity attacks
In last position for sneak attacks which are also frequent with this rule.

Taking into account the Melee Mayhem rule I decided to base my strategy around the Grund card since it has a lot of health and its double attack can do a lot of damage and with the Melee Mayhem rule it can attack without exposing itself to the damage it would have in first position, so the idea is to use the Pelacaor Mercenary and the Mycelic Morphoid to protect him while he does the main damage.
My opponent uses a good formation of the fire splinter with a good tank in first position and with sneak and opportunity cards that added to the ability of his summoner generate a lot of damage.

Battle Analysis

mycelic_rounds.png

In round 1 we can see the great utility and power of the mycelic morphoid that I told you about at the beginning of the post thanks to its thorns ability.
The battle begins when the Serpentine Spy makes the first attack killing our Mycelic Morphoid but also dying thanks to the mycelic's thorns ability and thus greatly reducing the damage generated by our enemy and his chances of victory.
It should be noted that if the Mycelic had been of a lower level without the ability of thorns or we had used another card that had not killed the Serpentine Spy in the first round, the odds of victory could have been against us.
After the death of the Serpentine Spy and thanks to the great attack power of the Grund and with the help of the Pelacor Mercenary I easily destroyed first his tank and then his other cards in the following rounds.

Conclusion

The mycelic morphoid is a great low-cost card that, as we saw in this week's battle, can give us a great advantage over our opponent as long as we use it properly. Mycelic Morphoid is not a card for all uses and that is normally used in all battles, but one that is very good and powerful with certain rules and specific formations.
I hope this post will help you to know one of these moments and it will be useful in your future battles. Until the next battle!
