DEC PRICE

Dec showed tremendous growth in a short period of time, due to the increase in the number of players and investors. It was nice run and we all benefited from it. But as it seems the correction has come upon us.

I am not a big investment expert but I still have enough knowledge and common sense to understand that correction is not necessarily a bad thing, in fact correction is a well-known and healthy phenomenon in the investment world (not just in the crypto field).

Of course, this may not be just a correction, but a complete collapse of the DEC price. But given the growth in the number of players I believe the likelihood of this is very low.

This means for the average Splinterlands player that the DEC he has accumulated has lost his purchasing power (at least for now). Simply put, if in order to buy a card worth $ 60 he had to pay 7000 DEC (random price for example) he would now have to pay much more DEC for the same card. Of course this has a lot more meanings, but I do not want to focus on them in the current post.

IMPLICATIONS FOR THE CARD MARKET

The question I want to try to answer in the current post is:
"Is it worth buying cards from the market right now?"

To answer this with certainty one has to be a fortune teller, but we can try to come to an educated guess about it.

Factors to consider:

  1. The price of the DEC may collapse and the prices of the cards (in DEC) will rise even more. As I mentioned, this is a scenario that is not so likely in my humble opinion.
  2. The price of the DEC may climb to new heights after the correction, thus lowering the price of the cards in the DEC.
  3. Chaos pack will be released in a few more weeks (personally I have been hearing this promise since July but this time it comes from officials sources!). When this happens the prices of old cards may drop significantly as fewer new players will be interested in buying them.
  4. Despite what is said in section 3, it seems that the developers of the game are interested in maintaining the value of the old cards. It is quite certain that there will be tournaments specific to the players who hold these cards. Also (according to the latest AMA) it is possible that the ERC will be separated between wild battles and modern battles. In this case, players who hold cards from old packs will have an advantage over players who only hold cards from the new packs. And since the supply of these cards has decreased, the demand for them will increase, and accordingly the price.
  5. Past experience at Splinterlands shows that cards tend to maintain their value and even increase as time goes on. Cards Holders who have been active in the game from the beginning have made very nice profits. Yet, past experience is Irrelevant, the separation of the game into "modern" and "wild" Change everything. Thus, buying cards now is less profitable than waiting for the new packs.
  6. As time goes on, for investors its less and less worth investing in DEC, as the days of SPS AIRDROPS diminish (I know there are still more than 300 days for that but still). Also, SPS APR is also decreasing. In other words, investors who bought DEC and in-game assets made impressive profits at the beginning of the AIR DROP New investors will also make nice profits, but slightly less. Which makes the investment except less worthwhile and as such only gets lost as time goes on. Therefore demand and value for DEC is expected to decline over time.

Sections 1 and 4 indicate that it is now worth buying cards and that the value of the cards is expected to increase.
Sections 2, 3, 5 and 6 indicate the opposite.

CONCLUSION

I'll be honest with you, I'm a cards trader. My interest is to encourage as much as possible the buying and selling of cards.
But honestly in my humble opinion buying cards for investment now may be unprofitable. And I think it is better to wait until the new changes in the market happen and the picture becomes clearer.

I can say that for myself I am going the middle way. I bought a few cards that I believe will increase in value in the long run, but I also kept a fair amount of DEC.

I am not prophet and there are endless factors to consider. In fact one of the reasons I wrote this post is to ask you to enlighten my eyes if there are any other points I have not thought of. I would love to hear your opinion even if you think you do not have enough experience!

I learned endless things from your comments, do not hesitate to correct me for mistakes I made in this post it just helps me to be a better actor and blogger.

Thank you for reading! And Good luck to you all!

P.S
This post isn't a investment recommendation, dyr!

I'm very new to the game so it's tough to know what to do. I would love to know which cards, if any, would go up in the future or be good investments now. My thought is that new players won't' look back towards older cards. I have a few alphas I'm hanging onto but if I could know reasonably well which current cards will be needed later, I would invest in a couple. I'm accumulating as much DEC as I can right now. Not sure if its smart but it is what I'm doing lol

mmm yea its hard to tell...
There were deals in which I saw good and quick profits. But there are cards that I have had for quite some time without being able to sell.

Still, I try to buy such cards that I know even if I get stuck with, they could be used by me. And the wisdom is to learn from mistakes too.

Do not do this if you feel unprepared yet, especially now that it is not yet clear which direction the DEC price will turn.

Ive never even heard of that one lol. I'll look into it but why do you think that one will go up. What is it used for?

My reasons:

  1. first of all its a legendary card so there isnt much of it to begin with.
  2. right now there is only 2 card at the price of 35$, the next price is +-40. so if you buy this card you already can put it back in the market for 39.5$.
  3. its a usefull card! this card+ DELWYN DRAGONSCALE is a nice combo. even if you will get stuck with this card for month or two its still nice card to have.

I got 1 card of this monster and for now I using it.
But I hope to sell it later for some gains.

Well i may be wrong, but if i do ill learn from it!
