Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge: Taking Sides

Hello guys! I'm back with another entry to the Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge. In case you're not familiar with this, it's a contest where players share their matches and team compositions designed for specific rule sets.

This week's ruleset in focus is Taking Sides. In this ruleset, you cannot use Neutral units. I play in Modern Bronze league, and I think many players in Modern Bronze have 2 Neutral cards that are often used: Venari Spellsmith and Halfling Alchemist.

Venari Spellsmith has Dispel which can be used to remove the Bloodlust and Martyr effects. It is very important to have this card handy in Bronze because many players use Quora or other Gladiator cards which can wreck your teams if you let them accumulate power thru Bloodlust or Martyr.

Halfling Alchemist cuts its target's damage to half. This is useful if you feel like you'll be facing enemies with high damage (like Gladiators).

The good thing is that my battle only has Water and Dragon splinters available. So there's no Quora (I don't have this card yet so it's very annoying to fight it).

This is also a low mana (15!) fight so there's a low chance that the enemy would use a Dragon or Water Gladiator.

I thought my enemy would use **Diemonshark **so I used CAMILA SUNGAZER as my summoner to reduce the enemy cards' melee damage by 1.

Another possibility is that the enemy might use Djinn Oshannus which is also a good card in Bronze as it has good magic damage, high health, and takes reduced damage from magic.

That's why I chose Djinn Chwala as my tank. It has good damage and armor, and high health. It also has the Thorns ability which would deal damage back to melee attackers. So if the enemy uses Diemonshark or other melee cards I have a good chance of winning.

If the enemy uses Oshannus, then Djinn Chawala would lose. That's why I added a healer (MERDAALI GUARDIAN).

I have 1 mana left so I just chose TWO GUN PETE for that extra 1 damage. Looking back, I forgot to add a zero mana card for extra meat lol.

The enemy decided to use a melee Gladiator card. As I've mentioned above, I was confident of winning if the enemy uses melee cards because Djinn Chwala is really good against melee enemies. So of course I won! 😁
