Everyone Wants Some Pussy

avatar

You know how it is, since the beginning of time, it has been core to the oldest profession, the first rental market. And nothing has changed, pussy is still in demand.

image.png

And of course, what I am talking about is the Splinterlands pussy, Byzantine Kitty. Which is always in demand and at least for now (and in my opinion), the best summoner Splinterlands has. But I am biased, because I bought one for a pretty penny several months ago - but I am glad I did.

This is the rental market for MAX Kitties:

And for all the Legendary summoners available for the Modern Format:

image.png

That single Llama is going for 2500 DEC - that is about $1.50 a day, with a minimum rent of two days. That seems expensive, but even at that price, it is only a 25% return on the current card value, which means buying the card today and if able to get that daily in rent, it will take four years to start to return a positive income. That sounds like a lot!!

But is it?

Currently, the earnings are in DEC, which is "undervalued" (market decides) 58c per 1000. However, the expectation is that it will return to its 1000:1 peg, so that means that the $1.50 a day becomes $2.50 a day, which means that it will take around 1000 days to break even, which is under three years.

But even at the four year mark of 20%, what is the expectation on for example, the value of a house? If I bought a rental property outright (no loan), how quickly would I be able to recoup the initial investment and start making a positive return? I suspect that it isn't going to be under four years, but of course, that is probably not the best way to buy a rental apartment, and buying a card means buying outright. Plus, a rental property is real and a lot can happen in four years in crypto. While people always need a place to live, playing games is a luxury.

However, a lot can happen in crypto doesn't just mean on the downside, as the upside probably has the highest potential at the moment of any investment industry if spread over time. And, if a portion of that potential is realized, it will spread through the entire industry, pushing all kinds of digital asset values up. This doesn't mean that investing into Splinterlands cards is a wise financial move, but there is some high-risk potential in it.

And of course, there are the other factors that are going to affect these prices as for example, the release of LAND is going to soak up a huge amount of cards, including many of these summoners that are already in short supply. This means that the entire Splinterlands rental and purchase market changes dramatically again, which should positively affect the values for owners, but make rentals more expensive. Of course, there is a demand balancer here, but it is going to be an interesting journey to find the new equilibriums.

And there are so many factors involved due to all of the interconnected asset classes, that there will be constant adjustment and readjustment, unsettling the ecosystem as changes to one, affect all the rest. But, other than the large changes, it will probably start to stabilize a little more, as there are more anchoring points in the ecosystem, making it a broader economy that brings some balance.

Of course, all of what is going on from an investment point of view is just speculation and no one can really predict what is going to happen in Splinterlands or the broader market of crypto, and the global economy as a whole. But, one thing is certain, nothing is going to stay the same as it is today, so the speculation on whether it is up or down is what is being looked at and, as we have seen with pretty much everything, it is all about the timeline as to whether it is up at the moment, or down at the moment.

There are people who are suffering in real estate because they took large debt to buy a house, but with rising interest rates, can't pay their bills. However, they bought from people who paid much less for the house under better conditions and who are sitting pretty, flush with cash before the drop of value means they can reenter at a bargain basement price. Even though that "basement" is actually higher than they initially paid before selling.

It is the same for crypto, with a lot of the largest holders in the world "up" on their purchases all the way down to the hundreds of dollars per BTC. And, this doesn't even take into consideration what they sold when it was in the 60K mark and they were taking 100,000s of percent gains on their initial purchases.

Supply and Demand.

And, while scarcity is often necessary to create value, what is also necessary is opportunity. And the thing is that while Kitty might be scarce on the markets now, here is plenty of opportunity with other cards and in other assets. This is why Splinterlands is such a viable investment, because as it offers multiple paths to build a portfolio from and a missed opportunity in one area, doesn't mean a missed opportunity in all areas, especially since, there are more to come.

As the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots that you don't take, which is a comment on potential.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

It works on the downside as well as the up, but if you look at those who are successful, they almost all took the shot. And often, so did those who failed catastrophically. The people in the middle though, they did what everyone else did, the average and as a result - they got what they aimed for - the average.

What kind of return on life are you looking for?
What do you need to invest of yourself to get it?

This isn't just about money - it is about quality of life, strength of community and the possibility for opportunity for generations to come. While some people are going to roll the dice and push hard, others are going to do the average and puss out.

There is a Kitty on the market now:

Any takers?

Yo, 6K for a Legendary Cat might end up being as cheap as it‘ll get anytime soonish. It‘s fore sure more expansive than a rl pure breed, and the equivalent to a lot of the other services you started leading us to within the first paragraph.

It might be cheap, as long as there is future demand for it. I hope Matt doesn't kill the cat!

The changing definition of what is properly is going to be an interesting conversation over the coming years.

If I’ve understood it the right way, than you place Totems and Cards onto Land to mint other cards. Meaning, legendary Cards will be placed on Plots a lot, to mint legendary stuff there. Checking the the amount of plots, makes me wonder,… we need more cards in circulation. A hell lot of more cards.

Funny, isn't it? because most people still think there are too many in circulation now :)

with rising interest rates, can't pay their bill.

Why rising interest rates? Here, the interest rate of a loan is fixed as long as you don't want variable interest. Therefore, those who took a long-term loan such as mortgage last year are now very lucky as the value of their payments have been decreasing due to the inflation.

It depends where and when it was bought :) many in Australia for example can't fix their loans for more than two years at a time. I have a 10 year collar.

Never got one while they were reasonably priced.
If we had a 1:1,000,000 chance of winning one every time we were beaten with one, I'd have 7 by now.

:D

It is a must have card in D and up. I can do without a Yodin, but not without a kitty.

card market will be on fire soon, even with the same player base.

I have no idea where will I be able to get cards to farm my land. I have almost all working right now, and a small rental set. I have no idea where will the cards come from. I am holding nearly 9K CL packs dearly, that's my only backup plan until I buy more.

3 Max Kitties here plus a Gold Level and a GFL! All getting played constantly. I wish I can rent.......

Hopefully it coincides with a decent crypto run so people are flush.

You have quite a cat stable going on there.

I have 10 plots and I am pretty sure I don't have enough cards for it....

And I have a whole region!!

A whole 1000 plots.

Then a tract, so another 100.

And then 15 lose plots. Where can I find cards for these? I have no idea!

I have never seen one of these but I gave up on splinterlands. It's way too complicated for me and I don't have the time or desire to sit down and learn. So I rent all the cards out on my old account and keep buying packs with the dec I get. I think I get 300-400 a day average. I now hope I pop a pussy in the next pack.

It isn't for everyone I guess :)

No pussies left I'm afraid, they are out of print. I had to pay a lot for mine! :D
