T50 and Time to Land
And here we are again.

Season Just Finished:
0.53 win percentage
That percentage change might not seem like a big difference, but what it meant was streaks and longer streaks, so I was able to climb up the ladder in larger chunks and, not lose ground quite as fast. And, what this resulted in was getting to about the same rating in Champion 1, with 177 less games than I had the previous season. This meant finishing for the season with 5 days to go and for the first time ever....
T50 DEC rewards!
A few months ago I broke into the top 100 for the first time ever and @azircon said that my next goal to hit was T50, so here I am. Just.
And then, this gave me a little bit of space to play some Wild Format too. For months now, I have only been playing in Modern because I just didn't have the space to play in Wild. My rating was at 1000, so Silver 3. In just under 50 rounds I was able to move into Gold 1 and if I have a chance in the new season, I will try to move another league up into Diamond.
And what is interesting, is that while last season in Modern everyone in the T100 at least made it into Champion 1, this season without bots there are only 56 accounts in the top league. This is because the bot and the battle helper users are largely not there, meaning they aren't taking slots, but it is also making it harder to climb, as there are fewer players vying for the final 50. There was quite a lot of movement in the last couple days and right up to the close of the season - and I was almost pushed out of the T50.
That would've made me sad.
And now, this coming season is going to maybe see the most disruptive thing happen in the history of playing Splinterlands, as Land 1.5 should be released, which will see staking of cards to plots. At full staked with max cards, this will take around 75% of all cards out of active circulation, though it isn't expected that will happen. But, what will likely happen is the accounts with a lot of cards currently renting, might also have a lot of plots to fill too, so rental scarcity might become an issue.
Similarly, some people with few extra cards but a couple of plots, will take some of their playing cards out of circulation too, which will have a profound effect on outcomes in Ranked Play and in Brawls, especially in Wild Formats, as Alpha and Beta cards get such good bonuses from staking on Land.
This all means that new dynamics are coming into play that are going to change the meta of game play, as well as the strategies around the economics. This is a good thing as it creates new and unoptimized gaps in the ecosystem for people to learn how to occupy and take advantage of, as when things are too stable for too long, opportunity disappears for many, whilst a few take the advantage.
This last season for me wasn't just a good season in terms of rewards and position - it was the best I have felt playing in a very long time. It is far more compelling playing against humans and I am hoping that now there is a little more action, there will also be a little more interaction on Hive, where people are not just dumping a battle report, but spending time talking about the gameplay, the economy, their strategies, and most importantly, their experiences. Looking through the Splinterlands community, the only ones with a lot of comments seem to be the giveaway posts - I hope that changes.
At least, that is what I am trying to do and perhaps some of the more senior players will drop by and add their thoughts from time to time and perhaps even, be inspired to write some posts themselves. I don't think people realize how valuable building the conversation around the game is, for the game to thrive. Discord is one thing, but Hive articles have external facing potential too and connects people who might not talk together otherwise. On-chain encourages a different kind of conversation than it does in Discord and I think that people would benefit from the discussion.

I "think" it will get easier, at least for those who aren't staking what they normally use to play :)
I only got 49 chests at the end of this season. I think they were gold chests. I got a couple legendaries, though so that is cool.
Was there any difference in playing?
I only play brawls with my Gold Foil cards. The rest of my cards I rent out and then what is left I bot for daily and season rewards. Brawls is my favorite part of the game right now and I like that they are working to keep the bots away from that part.

I don't know about that... I just know that I suck the strategy, so left to my own devices I probably wouldn't win anything. At least before. I have been doing better at brawls lately, so either I am getting better or people are getting worse.
Depending on what brawl you are doing, battle helper has very recently been removed, so it might be helping winrate.
yeah, that could be. I never used Battle Helper. I am glad they removed it as well. Scary how much worse I am than a bot!
They aren't like the early bots and now, with so many more cards, it is hard for a human to compete.
only 13 chests in silver 5 sps. I stagnate, the success rate is still the same.now I'm looking forward to soulkepp. It will be a change.

It will be harder next season though. As many of the old guards are only beginning to come back.
Next target top 10. This is many orders of magnitude harder than the last one. As it should be :)

8 gold chests here, but wholly underwhelming. Really looking forward to some new developments in this game, and even more optimistic for SK...even though I only have 2 packs.
I have always loved the TD style of game, all the way back to WC3 custom maps. God I hope we stop circling the drain soon.
I'm completely disconnected from the game. Does the lack of bots seem to be hurting the game at all?
Martyr cards and soulbounds are also impacting my gameplay, put them together with a combination of rule sets and some really interesting strategies come to light.
I tried a strategy to overpower one card, it worked but as a side effect I discovered an even more powerful strategy, that one i am using a lot.

Nice job getting DEC rewards. It just looks way harder in Silver/Gold modern after the changes. I started off the seasons with a losing streak but I do wonder where things will level off in the seasons.

Congrats mate! I know we crossed paths several times as I was climbing into Champs early season.
I actually use the BH when playing Modern sometimes as I honestly have been out of touch with all the cards since I started using AM. People might hate on it, but it really is an amazing tool to teach you how to play again. If you never use the BH before, it spits out 5 team selections that you can choose from or if you are like me, you mix and match. Some of the selection doesn't always make sense, but that's up to the user to figure it out.
I am actually enjoying playing manually with or without the BH and I forgot how stimulating it is, especially when you win of course! :D The only issue I have is that I only have time in the evening to play, and that means playing for over an hour straight, which is tiring especially after working and having a drink.... :)
This past season was BY FAR my most enjoyable and most successful (not mutually exclusive). I started Modern in Diamond 1 and Wild in Champ 3. I played Modern into Champ 3, then let the bot play Wild into Champ 2. Then I went back and played exclusively Modern for most of the season and broke into Modern Champ 1 with about 3 days left and a Top 25 ranking. With a camping music festival on the weekend, I decided to leave Modern where it was and let the bot play the last 3 days of the season in Wild. By the EoS, I was in Champ 1 for modern and wild, although I only got leaderboard payout for modern. First time I have finished both formats in Champ 1.
I had also never finished in the Leaderboard ranking before! And while I got bumped into the Top50 for 20K DEC instead of 40K, I didn't take a cool screen pic like you did to immortalize the moment. Hopefully, there will be many more leaderboard finishes in the years to come!
I am in agreement with you that this is the best place I've seen the Splinterlands game ecosystem in some time. While we all want to see SPS rise in price, we have to be cognizant of its print rate and the abundance of these tokens that will come into the market over the next few years. The flywheel will be able to provide some help once demand for DEC picks up, but it will only go so far until DEC needs are satiated and the flywheel pressure eases off. Despite their inflationary nature, I still enjoy the cards as my primary investment vehicle.
Oh yeah, about the content stuff though... definitely going to be making a bigger effort to post more than just the (non-existant for the last few months) brawl reports.
